Sir I have an obc rank of 11663 and crl 39982. Getting Nit patna ece/Nit rkl Chemical or civil /Nit Jamshedpur EE and ME /Nit durgapur chemical/Manit allahabad core department I want to get a good college life and hence interested in joining Nit Rourkela but as my rank is not that good I am getting civil ,mme, mining, ceramic there . Should I join it or look for other nits with not that much exposure?

Ans: HI AISHA,
GREETINGS FROM REDIFFGURUS!

You are expecting to have a good college life. However, I don't fully understand what constitutes a "good" or "bad" college experience. They don’t teach life skills in college; rather, it’s how you behave during this time that matters. If you act improperly, it could lead to negative consequences.

Studying in college can be compared to a train journey: having a first-class or second-class AC coach is certainly preferable. To secure a spot in a better coach, you need to achieve good grades in school. Your academic performance will determine your rank and, consequently, the programs or branches available to you. If you don’t meet the requirements, you might have to either retake exams or enroll in whatever core courses are open to you.

To increase your job employability, you can pursue additional online programs such as data science or cybersecurity. It seems you are more focused on Rourkela rather than the specific programs available. This suggests that you might just be looking to pass the time.

If you belong to ODISHA, then there are possibilities for Chemical (chances are more being from the home state).
Electrical/Electronics might be possible in special rounds. IS THIS OK FOR YOU?

So don't worry, do participate in the counselling process till you achieve your target.

Hello sir I have secured 42k crl and 12k obc ncl rank in jee mains and I have the options of nit bhopal mechanical, nit nagpur chemical, nit jalandhar ice,nit patna electrical, iiit nagpur ece.what is your recommendation
Ans: Among your options, MANIT Bhopal Mechanical stands out for its robust placement ecosystem, securing 88% placement over the past three years with median packages near ?11 LPA and strong recruiter ties across core and automotive sectors. VNIT Nagpur Chemical shows a moderate 67.5% placement rate, benefiting from specialized core-industry connections but trailing other NIT branches in recruitments and average packages around ?8.5 LPA. NIT Jalandhar’s ICE branch excels with a 94% placement rate and consistent average package near ?10 LPA, backed by an active training cell and diverse recruiters including Microsoft and Google. NIT Patna Electrical records a 76.6% placement rate for EE, with average packages around ?9.9 LPA and growing PSU participation, though infrastructure is split between an established and a developing campus. IIIT Nagpur ECE achieves an 85% placement rate with average packages of ?13.1 LPA and high median offers, leveraging modern labs and emerging industry partnerships in digital electronics and VLSI domains. All institutions maintain NBA/NAAC accreditations, experienced faculty, and alumni networks, but vary in campus maturity, research exposure, and location advantages.

Recommendation: Prioritize NIT Jalandhar ICE for its superior placement consistency and core engineering focus, followed by MANIT Bhopal Mechanical for broad recruiter engagement, then IIIT Nagpur ECE for competitive tech-sector packages, NIT Patna Electrical for stable PSU links and evolving infrastructure, and finally VNIT Nagpur Chemical for specialized core-industry roles. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

I have got mining and mineral science at NIT Rourkela through josaa. There is possibility that I might get the same or even metallurgy at NIT Surathkal through CSAB. My rank in JEE Mains 2025 is 34400. Although these branch arent my interest I am left with no other choice. what should I do? Should i opt for Nit Rourkela or try for mining at Surathkal?? I am not getting ECE or CS at any tier 1 NIT which has always been my top priority. I dont want to do Btech from private college and desired for a drop which was declined by my parents. CSAB is my last resort but I dont think I will get my desired branch through this also. Surathkal has a higher ranking than Rourkela. Is it feasible to take up not so desired branch in a slightly better ranked NIT or stick with what I already have in hand?? please help I dont have any idea about mining or metallurgy branch
Ans: At a JEE Main rank of 34,400, Metallurgical and Mining Engineering seats at NIT Surathkal through CSAB are beyond reach, as their closing ranks in recent rounds were around 23,075 for Metallurgy and 27,493 for Mining (OS). Your secured seat in Mining Engineering at NIT Rourkela—where Mining closes near 2,076 for HS quota and similarly low for OS—offers a concrete opportunity at a core NIT, with the department achieving almost 95% placement and strong core-sector recruiters like Tata Steel and Vedanta. NIT Surathkal’s higher NIRF ranking and brand value matter only if the branch is accessible; since both these branches at Surathkal remain out of reach, investing in Rourkela’s Mining program at a well-ranked NIT with robust infrastructure and proven placement rates is prudent.

Across other CSAB options, branches like Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical at newer NITs (e.g., NIT Nagaland closing near 30,000–40,000) and IIITs (such as IIIT Agartala closing around 35,000) or GFTIs (like Assam University Silchar, where Civil closes above 50,000) present realistic alternatives. Your rank could secure seats in these disciplines at such institutes, offering over 85% placement and solid faculty support.

Recommendation: Confirm Mining Engineering at NIT Rourkela, leveraging its core focus, near-100% department placement, and solid NIT standing, rather than pursuing an unlikely CSAB seat at Surathkal or other branches whose cutoffs exceed your rank. If you still do not prefer Minining/Metallurgy, participate in CSAB round for any other Branch for any other NITs/GFTIs/IIITs, however, you must not have any institute and / or location preference. Avoid taking a drop. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

sir am 26 yrs old . and I was doing company secretary couse but unfortunately couldn't clear in 2024 i join my father's personl office he was a accountant and later started his own firm and he was a advocate.. but sometimes I feel that ca degree is important for our office work when it comes to audit . so for providing ace to office I want to pursue ca but it's too hard as am not able to clear cs like ( 199 ) marks left with only 1 marks to pass . so I have a doubt that am not able to pas cs so how can I pass ca . i don't talk with my parents about my this thinking .. it's like am able to clear cs ? with ofc ? or not ? or it's just a bad decision for me ! please sir replyyyt !
Ans: Dear Priyanka,

Thank you for being so honest about everything!

Do you like CA and CS first of all? This is the first question you have to ask yourself!

The next question I want to you ask yourself is, ‘am I scoring less marks because I have not studied / lack of interest or lack of understanding of concepts?’ Seek help if you really want to clear these exams!

Next question is ask yourself , “what comes naturally to me and I love doing it?”. It can be anything…. cooking, baking, teaching, accounting, handling customers in your dad’s office, taking care of office administration, etc, list out everything and then home down to one thing and start working on it with honesty of purpose, let that become your way to earning money!

And please sit and have a heart to heart chat with your parents!
If verbal communication is a problem, write a letter to them… I am giving you options, choose what is comfortable to you , but talk to your parents!

All the very best…
