I am looking for advice for my son who is now in 12th standard ( Commerce subjects with Applied maths ). I want to send him abroad for his further studies. Could you please advise the courses he can take, countries he can opt for and the approximate costs involved. He is an average student.

Ans: Hello. Thank you for contacting us. It is understandable that you are concerned about your son’s future early on. Since your son is in 12th grade with commerce subjects and applied mathematics, he can choose to pursue business admission or management, economics, accounting, finance, or economics in his bachelor’s. It would be good if you encouraged him to do some extracurricular activities in order to strengthen his university applications.

In terms of countries, the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, and Germany are some of the best countries to pursue an accounting program. Furthermore, the cost of studying in each country would vary. It is preferred that you let us know if there is any specific country in mind so that we may be able to guide you further.

For any further queries, please get in touch with us. We have a team of expert counsellors who can guide you through any concerns or questions you may have.

As of now we are focussing on Canada basically if there is a cheaper option available we can also look at that. We don't have any universities in mind hence looking for guidance along with costs involved.
Ans: Canada is considered a good country for further studies, especially in Canada. The following Canadian unversities are best for your son:

`1.University of Toronto
2. University of British Columbia
3. McGill University
4. Queen's University
5. York University.
6. University of Alberta
7. The University of Waterloo

The approximate cost of studying here would be CAD 14,000–CAD 35,000 (INR 9L to 21L).

My son is in 10th now, what are his options for studying abroad?
Ans: Hello,

To begin with, thank you for contacting us. I am glad to hear that your son is currently studying in the 10th grade. To answer your question first, I would like to tell you that studying overseas will offer your son access to a world of endless opportunities. Although certain programs are designed keeping secondary school students in mind, you would be glad to know that summer programs or pre-college programs designed specifically for younger students, in turn, offering them exposure to a variety of academic disciplines, cultural backgrounds, as well as various events in life, are offered by a number of colleges and institutions. I would recommend that your son looks into the language immersion classes, summer study programs, as well as the exchange programs that these academic institutions and universities have to offer. Not just that, remember that he can plan beforehand and also make sure that he adheres to the requirements for any programs he might be interested in taking up after he completes high school by conducting a study on the prerequisites for securing admission to foreign universities as soon as possible. Moreover, for students’ his age, aspiring to pursue education overseas, getting in touch with academic advisors or guidance counselors can also prove beneficial as they will be able to offer useful information pertaining to the myriad of possibilities available.

Can you guide me which subjects he can choose for his undergraduate course or which course should he choose for a better career. Also, kindly guide me which countries would be better for him.
Ans: Saumyaa Madam, please let me know, your son is interested in which subject / stream / course? His academic performance in 10th / 12th? If possible, please arrange for him to attempt a 'Psychometric Test' (available online) for Rs.1000-2000 approx. This Assets & investment sufficient for maintain 7 family members Expenses after retirement ? ( 4 Adult + 3 Children (Below 5 Years) ). I will retire at the age of 45.
Ans: Hello;

What is the expected monthly rental from industrial plot and machinery?

Are you currently occupying one of the flats mentioned here or are all of them given on rent?

Also your term life insurance is very low. You should have minimum term insurance cover of 2.4 Cr.

You have good assets in agri land, industrial land, gold, real estate but they are relatively illiquid when need arises hence term insurance cover with riders for critical care and accident benefit are an absolute must!

Considering the home loan tenure of 17 years and 3 small kids in the family to be supported for education and decent lifestyle, I am not sure if you can retire in 7 years timeframe from now.

However I would appreciate your reply to my queries above, before I give my firm view about your retirement in 7 years timeframe.

Best wishes;

I have around 1 crore to invest. I am 61 years old retired defence officer and pension amounting to around ?1,50,000/- per month and medically covered. Need some sound investment plan for 1 crore. Don't have any liabilities?
Ans: Hello;

You may invest your corpus into following two funds in proportion of 50:50,

1. Kotak Arbitrage fund (low risk)
You may consider modest return of 6% from this scheme.

2. ICICI Pru equity savings fund (low to moderate risk). You may consider modest return of 8% from this scheme.

Theses investments will retain purchasing power of your corpus aginst inflation and deliver some real returns too with low to moderate risk.

This is in accordance with your age and commensurate risk appetite.
