Sir , I am looking for admissiion for my son in 2026 for Engineering. Is it a good decision to pursue ECE rather than CSE if the kid is OK with either. In bangalore for ECE please rate the top 3 colleges

Ans: Namaste
Every engineering has its own distinct importance. It is solely based on our focus and interest. CSE works majorly in software industry. ECE is based on electronics some part of hardware. If your ward is interested in Machine learning, AI Cloud computing should go for CSE, and interested in microprocessor, hardware, IoT (internet of Things) should opt ECE. CSE is for software programming, data scientist, ECE is for VLSI, Robotics.

Sir, my question is CSE or ECE which is uaving future for engineering students. Next. My son getting seats in Coimbatore Ramakrishna, KPR,, Bannari amman, Chennai St.Joseph Engg, RMK engg. Which is the best college, where i can put him.

Ans: ECE is slightly tougher than CSE to study. Please consider your son's interest. Computer or Electronics? Even if he joins ECE, some software companies prefer ECE Students also during Campus Placement. Prefer Bannari Amman over others. Whatever Institute / University & Branch your Son chooses, he should keep upgrading his skills from his 1st year itself till his Campus Placement during his last year, from NPTEL, Internshala etc. and / or any other online platforms, recommended by his College Faculties, to be COMPETENT among other Students.

Sir my son scored 17,000 rank in KCET. 93 percentile in JEE mains. We are from obc ncl category which college in Bengaluru can he get for cse or ece and which branch of these is better.

Ans: With a KCET rank of 17,000 (OBC-NCL), your son is unlikely to get CSE or ECE in top Bangalore colleges like RVCE, BMSCE, MSRIT, or PES University, as their cutoffs are much lower. However, he has good chances for CSE or ECE in colleges such as Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering, Acharya Institute of Technology, Reva University, Nitte Meenakshi Institute of Technology (if this college accepts KCET this year), and East Point College of Engineering and Technology. CSE is generally the better option for high-paying jobs in the IT/software sector, especially in Bangalore, while ECE offers diverse career paths in both electronics and IT. If your son prefers programming and software, CSE is recommended; if he’s interested in electronics and communications with flexibility to move into IT, ECE is also a solid choice. Both branches offer good prospects, but CSE typically has an edge in placements and salaries in Bengaluru. All the best for your son's admission and a bright future!

My wife posts everything on social media. Earlier she used to post about food and travel and our kids. Now if we have a fight or argument, she turns it into a funny reel or feminism post and everyone on her feed starts commenting. I am not on social media but when we meet socially, our common friends have started making fun of me like I am the villain. She calls herself an influencer and says it is helping her reach a wider audience. I told her she shouldn't post without my permission and it is leading to big arguments. I feel it is unfair. I understand where you are coming from; it's not just the post. It's about your private life being turned into public content and mockery. Your reaction is valid and yes, it is unfair. I understand her interest in building an online presence, but it has to be separated from your right to privacy. Start with a calm conversation about this; express, verbally, how her posts make you feel. Instead of saying, "You can't post about is," try saying, "When our problems become content, it hurts the relationship and me." Or, you can say, "I am so happy that you are making content, but not when it involves our problems." It's the best way to frame the expression without sounding accusatory. Be clear about your boundaries: no posts about private matters, and consent is key. Give her real-word examples, like how your friends mock you. Try to keep the conversation as less accusatory as possible, to avoid a bigger conflict. Start with communicating your feelings.

Please explain LTCG and how it applres to Mutual Funds/share market and proceeds from house sale.

Ans: It depends on type of Mutual fund (debt/equity/specified fund) and for house sale it depends on date of acquisition (Before 1.4.2001 OR After 1.4.2001 but before 23.07.2024).

In either case it is taxable at 12.5% subject to certain conditions

Hi Sir, I have this month sold one of my Flat which I had received in Redevelopment against my House in year August 2021 and hence, valuation on my earlier agreement was ZERO.. The Government Valuation of same Flat is about 22 lakh, whereas I have Sold same Flat with On Paper amount of 32 lakh (i.e. 10 lakh above Valuation). So First of all what will be the Taxable amount on my Flat. Will it be 32 lakh as there is no amount mentioned at the Time of Registration with developer, Or will it be 10 Lakh. Also request you to kindly advise options for Saving the Taxable amount.

Ans: Property owners in a redevelopment project are generally liable to pay Capital Gains Tax on hand over of property for redevelopment and liable to pay tax in the financial year the Occupancy Certificate (OC) or Completion Certificate is received. The capital gain is the difference between the Stamp Duty Value (SDV) of the new flat (plus any cash compensation) and the indexed cost of acquisition of the old flat. Accordingly, when new flat is sold, Stamp Duty Value (on which tax is already paid) becomes the cost of acquisition.

I understand that you have not paid tax at the time of hand over of property for redevelopment, accordingly, it is advisable to contact tax consultant.

Ans: Keshav Sir, CSE in Manipal main campus is realistically possible, especially in later counselling rounds. Fill preference order as: CSE → CSE (AI/ML related) → CSE Financial Technology → Mathematics & Computing → IT-related branches → ECE as backup. Sir, I have earned Rs.30000 as short term capital gains from redemption of Silver ETF FOF type of MF in FY 2025-25. My total annual income in FY 2025-26 from salary, pension, bank interest and including STCG amount of Rs .30000 from Silver ETF FOF type of MF is lesser than Rs.12 lakhs for which I think Section 87A benefit available. Is my assumption correct? Or should I pay tax on STCG amount of Rs.30000 for FY 2025-26?

Ans: Gains from a Silver ETF Fund of Funds (FoF) are taxed according to the investor's income tax slab rate if held for 24 months or less and accordingly, 87A rebate is available

Dear Sir, My name is Sanjay Shah. I retired on 31/3/2025 at the age of68 years. I have contributed to the Employees' Provident Fund until my retirement date. I have not withdrawn my pension amount until the retirement date. In June 2025, i applied for my Provident Fund (PF) amount, which I received subsequently. I applied, in November 2025, my pension amount, under Employees' Pension Scheme, (EPS) from November 2014 (pension eligible date) till pension retirement date, which i received on 10/2/2026 accumulated pension amount of Rs.3,29,448. There were no salary in the current year (2025-26), as i retired on 31/3/2025. Now my question is that this pension amount of Rs.3,29,448 can be considered as pension / salary and basic deduction of Rs.75,000 eligible ? for Income Tax calculation purposes. I have an income of approximately Rs.25 lakhs from FD interest, Bond interest, dividend from Company / MF etc. etc. This is for your informatioin. Hope to receive your reply asap. Thanks and regards. Ans: A pension received after retirement is eligible for a standard deduction of ?75,000 under the new tax regime, as it is treated as "Income from Salaries". If opting for the old tax regime, the deduction is ?50,000.
