Hello sir, My daughter get Electronics in VLSI in VIT and also get mechanical(Robotics) in Institute of Engineering and Management(IEM) a private institution in Kolkata. Which one is good future prospect? Please suggest

Ans: Sir,

1) ‘Robotics’ is a growing field with a vast array of exciting career opportunities.

2) ‘Robotics’ is an interdisciplinary engineering field which focuses on the Design, Development, and Implementation of Robots & Automated Systems. It combines the principles from Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Software Engineering to create intelligent machines capable of performing self-directed or human-guided tasks.

3) A BTech in ‘Robotics’ Engineering provides your son with the in-depth knowledge and skills required to lead such technological advancements.

4) Career Options:

a) Robotics Machine Learning Engineer
b) Developer of Robotics Software
c) Scientist in Artificial Intelligence Robotics
d) Project Manager for Robotics
e) Consultant in Robotics
f) Engineer for Drons & More

As such, Mechanical (Robotics) is a better option than VLSI in VIT.

I hope I have clarified your doubts.

If you need any other clarifications for your Daughter or have questions for anyone, post your questions (in detail) to me and/or follow me here in RediffGURU to know more on ‘Careers / Education / Jobs’.

Sir VIT vellore has good nirf ranking and naccA++ grade where as Inst of engineering and management, kolkata have less nirf ranking and Naac A+ grade. So considering the factor which course u suggest? Btech electronics specialization in vlsi design un vit vellore or btech mechanical specialization in robotics and automation.
Ans: Sir, VIT has Overall NIRF Ranking with NACCA++ for most of the Courses (Not, only for VLSI Design). Keeping this in view, your daughter's interest, location & campus placement factors, it is better to decide accordingly Sir.

Hello sir. I got 92 percentile in mht cet and I am getting mechanical engineering in DYP Akurdi, aissms and MMCOE. Also I have chances for robotics and automation at MIT-WPU. Which one should I opt for ?
Ans: D.Y. Patil College of Engineering Akurdi’s Mechanical Engineering is NBA-accredited and NAAC ‘A’-graded, led by PhD faculty across 15+ workshops and CNC, CAD/CAM, and heat-transfer labs; it records an 80% placement rate over three years with TATA Motors, Ford, and Capgemini campus drives. AISSMS COE Pune’s Mechanical program is NAAC A+ accredited, features modern Fluid Mechanics, Thermal, and Automation labs, and achieved a 61.3% placement rate in 2023 with Infosys, TCS, IBM, and Accenture recruiters. MMCOE’s Mechanical department is NBA-accredited under SPPU, houses SAE-India, ISHRAE, and robotics chapters, emphasizes outcome-based learning, and sustains a 76% average placement rate in core and software roles over the last three years. MIT-WPU’s B.Tech in Mechanical (Robotics & Automation) is NAAC A+ and NIRF-ranked (#101-150), offers dedicated robotics, AI/ML, and automation labs with GPU clusters, guarantees 90% internship conversion, and records a 70% branch placement rate with Deloitte, LG, and L&T.

Recommendation:
For core mechanical engineering with highest placement consistency (80%) and metro connectivity, choose DYP Akurdi Mechanical. If you prioritise industry-linked internships and specialized automation projects, opt for MIT-WPU Robotics & Automation. Otherwise, for balanced infrastructure and solid core-to-software placements, consider MMCOE Mechanical, and for a traditional private-university environment with moderate placements, select AISSMS Pune Mechanical.

All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!

How is iit kharab our for mechanical engineering
Ans: Jayesh, (Typing error in your question. I assume you are asking about IIT-Kharagpur). Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, the oldest IIT established in 1951, holds a #5 rank in NIRF 2024 Engineering and #6 overall. The institute is NAAC A+ and NBA accredited, staffed by predominantly PhD-qualified, research-active faculty who publish extensively and guide 4,000+ postgraduate and PhD scholars. Its campus features state-of-the-art multidisciplinary labs—Advanced VLSI Design, Infrastructure Monitoring & Analytics, High-Performance Computing, Nanofabrication, Material Characterization—supporting innovation across domains. Placement cells report 85–90% B.Tech placement over the last three years, with 517 UG offers in 2025 and a median package near ?20 LPA through top recruiters like Google, Amazon, Intel, and L&T. Strong industry tie-ups, mandatory internships, international research collaborations, and an IEEE’s smart-campus initiative enrich student exposure and employability.

Final recommendation:
Weighing premier national ranking, multidisciplinary research infrastructure, robust lab facilities, high placement consistency (85–90%), and extensive industry collaborations, recommendation is to pursue IIT Kharagpur for world-class engineering education and career prospects in core and emerging technology sectors. Is EEE at Amrita bangalore Good option or should I take CSD at DSCE or CSE at WB prvt colleges?
Ans: Amrita School of Engineering Bengaluru’s B.Tech EEE program (NAAC A++, NIRF-ranked 7th among private universities) is taught by primarily PhD-qualified faculty, equipped with power-electronics, machines, control, measurement, and embedded-systems labs, and recorded an 86.7% placement rate for the 2022-23 batch with 300+ recruiters. Dayananda Sagar College of Engineering’s B.E. in Computer Science & Design (NAAC accredited, NIRF #201-300) features 12 specialized design and computing labs, industry-aligned curriculum, and achieved 67.9% placements in its CSE/Design department over the last three years with partnerships for COMEDK internships. West Bengal private institutions such as Brainware University (UGC/AICTE/NAAC accredited) employ dedicated placement cells, boast a 98% overall placement rate in 2024 with 500+ recruiters and average 3.78 LPA packages, and offer modern IT, AI/ML, and data-science labs under research-active faculty.

Recommendation: For a robust core-electrical foundation, superior accreditation, and strong recruiter diversity, the recommendation is Amrita Bangalore EEE. If you prioritise a niche design-computing blend with focused pedagogy, consider DSCE CSD. For maximum placement consistency and broad computing exposure, choose top West Bengal private college CSE options such as Brainware University. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!
