Hello sir. I am a 28 years old woman with a graduation in mathematics. I was preparing for civil services and has five attempts with no success. I used to have tuitions to support my personal finances. Other than that, I have no work experience. I am really lost and worried about my future. Can you help me out please.

Ans: Still there is time. Civil service is an illusion for which lakhs of careers are affected. Because the success rate is even less then 1 in 10000. I do hear you...
It is perhaps time to do something different. You have a wealth of experience of 19 years and it can be put to good use.
Independent consulting in Wealth management maybe something that you might want to consider. There are courses online that help you get initiated in this and using your Banking knowledge it maybe possible to consider this option.
Also, speak with your close circle of friends and family and take their advice as well. It will also help you to take strategic advice from someone in your field and who has also is updated with all the current happenings. Someone senior is what I suggest...
What you need is some direction which this expert in your field can offer...what else you need is some confidence, which you need to instil within yourself.

When something does not work, do something else for a different result...But giving up hope is the worst option...Push yourself to think different and ask:
What else can I do to make things work?
What can I do differently than before for things to align better for me?
How can I keep my state of mind upbeat even though things are not going well for me?

Asking useful questions can change the course of one's life...So keep at it please...

Sir i am a civil engineer graduate 2023 i did my graduation in civil engineering from a tire 2 -3 college from mumbai university . I didn’t get any job its not like that i am dum student or else i was not good at studies u definitely found partility that in civil they took all diploma + degree holders with less knowledge also in companies such a worley , godrej , technimont etc mnc companies with salary of 6-7 lpa but sir i was scattered because i lost my dad in covid my mom is working but her salary is just 50k and now after trying out for jobs as fresher i found a job in IIT bombay as project technical assistant which gives me 30k but its in ocean department. Now i want to learn further i am seeing people doing masters from priavte university like nicmar adani symbiosis etc in construction or infrastructure management. I am stuck jn life what to do im trying for government but i know government junior engineers job wont pay me much to buy home for my mom . In such case what will be best please help

Ans: I fully empathize with your situation. Do focus on the positive of having completed BTech in Civil Engineering. Civil Engineering is the foundational engineering discipline and lends itself to use of new tools and technologies through use of of software to build structures using design elements that use newer materials to build infrastructure, homes, industrial townships that further sustainability. Use your current Tech Asstt job to learn about Oceanography as an added skills. Look at acquiring project management skills and explore opportunities with optimism and passion.

I'm a bsc botany graduate and now got admission and doing msc. I'm in first year and just gave my 1st semester exam but somehow now i feel i can't do botany at all its not just in my interest. I can't continue further with it as i dont think there's much scope too. I have interest in fields like geography or law related subjects. I'll be attempting for upsc too this year and also had a second thought to go for Law. Should i drop the msc? ....I've cried a lot thinking about that and its affecting my mental health too.

Ans: Hello dear.
First I would like to suggest that, in any way, you first complete your M.Sc. (Botnay) either with interest or without interest. Who told you that there is less scope in Botany? There are a lot of career options after M.Sc. (Botany).It is good that you are interested in geography and are attempting UPSC this year. Dear, along with your M.Sc. you can easily appear for UPSC and do the study of Geography, after completing your M.Sc. you can take the admission to Law course. Many people do the law even after their retirement or in due course of their service. There is no need to cry about the things which happened to you.
Suggestions: (1) Completer M.Sc. (Botany) by any means (2) Space-time to read Geography and UPSC Syllabus (3) Develop your overall personality and try to engage in some extracurricular activities of your interest.

Hi, I am a new investor 41 yrs old, so far10L invested in various MF categories. Here are list of investments through SIP’sand lumpsum: 20K in Nippon Large Cap, 15K in Quant Mid cap 15K in ICICI Pru multi asset 15K in Parag Parekh flexi cap 15K in Edleweiss small cap 1L lumpsum in Motilal Oswal mid small Healthcare index fund 2L lumpsum in ICICI Pru all season bond fund 12.5K/month in PPF Can I achieve my retirement goals, both child education (9 yrs old & 5 months old), marriage etc. and is there a need to balance my portfolio. Also is there any need me to consider in other investments options.

Ans: Hello;

Your current lumpsum and monthly investment into mutual funds may be adequate to meet the education and marriage requirement of your kids. (~2 Cr)

Apart from that it may provide a retirement corpus (~5 Cr).

If you have a female kid invest in SSY(12.5 K per month) since the interest is more then PPF and other benefits are similar only with different withdrawal stage.

Also you may supplement your retirement planning through NPS (~20 K per month).

Review performance of your funds annually with reference to the category average and benchmark.

I am 48 , Income: Take home 2.5 L / pm , PPF amount 47 L , NPS - 20 L , FD- 37 L , Life Insurance - 80 L, Expenses 75 k /pm . Please advice me a plan for 2 L income / pm from 2036.

Ans: Hello;

You may need a corpus of 6 Cr to generate a post-tax monthly income of 2 L+. (Assuming 6% annuity rate and 30% tax)

Assuming your existing investment stay and continue till 2035(PPF, NPS, FD) it may grow into a cumulative corpus of 2.93 Cr.(12.5 K pm into PPF+47 L @ 6.9%, 20 K pm into NPS+20 L @ 8%, FD of 37 L @ 7.4%)

So you need to fill the gap of (6-2.93=3.07 Cr) through monthly sip.

You may begin with a monthly sip of 1 L into a combination of pure equity mutual funds and step it up each year by a minimum of 3% to reach your target in 11 years.

Here the assumption is that you have term life insurance of 80 L with no maturity value.

If it's an endowment policy then assuming maturity value of 80 L you may attain your target with a flat monthly sip of 83 K into a combination of pure equity mutual funds.

Make sure to move your gains from equity funds into liquid funds as you approach closer to your retirement to avoid it getting affected by market volatility.

My son is working in a multinational energy company. Work culture is very good, salary also good. He did his B.Tech in CSE in the year 2023. He is working as a Software Eng. in the ERP section (less coding). My son is interested coding (creative) related job. He has a GATE (2023) score of 581 (Gen cat). My questions are 1) Is it advisable to do M.Tech in CSE using his GATE score? If yes, then which top Colleges can be preferred? 2) Or, will he continue his present job for few more years to gain experience 3) Or, to switch to a new company? Thanks in advance.

Ans: If he is interested in teaching or research he should go for M.Tech, otherwise not. Let him continue his present job. An online MBA will pay him a lot. Let him go for that. Ans: Dear Ashok, Yes, you can generate ?75,000/month from your ?83 lakh investment portfolio with an average return of around 10-12% per year. Consider using SWP from your equity funds and rebalancing the portfolio to incorporate some safer, income-generating investments like debt funds for stability. Causion is if the returns goes below 12% in any of the Quarters your capital may deplete. and then you might have to reduce withdrawal. Suggesion is that withdraw 6% return only or increase your investments to 1.5 CR sothat your withdrawals exceed your rise in MF amount and your Capital is always protected.

Dear sir, I have completed 8.7months and withdrawn the PF amount. But I have received the certificate from pension authority. Can I get the pension by submitting the certificate at EPFO office or I have to withdraw the money. What to do. Please guide

Ans: For eligibility under the Employees' Pension Scheme (EPS), the minimum service requirement is 10 years of service. Unfortunately, with 8 years and 7 months of service, you do not meet the minimum 10-year requirement to be eligible for a monthly pension.
if you have withdrawn the PF amount, check whether your previous employment details were also included, if yes, then you may be eligible for EPS as your services cross 10 years. in that case, you can submit the request for eps pension.
