I Got 92 Percentile in JEE Mains: Can I Crack It in 2nd Attempt?

Ans: JEE ADVANCE. In the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE), "JEE Session 1" and "JEE Session 2" refer to the two separate attempts of the JEE Main exam, which is the first stage of the JEE, while "JEE Advanced" is the second, more difficult stage that only those who qualify JEE Main can take, primarily for admission into the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). Now if the child is confident then straight away go for JEE ADVANCE. I think he should go for that. But this is my view based on the present situation. But if your son is still a bit diffident then let him improve his score through JEE session 2 and after that he can go for JEE ADVANCE. But I personally feel there is no point in wasting energy and time for JEE 2. Let him concentrate on JEE ADVANCE, if he prepares well and on that particular day his luck cooperates then he will get any of the IITs. In our time there were only five IITs and one BHU-IT. But now there are many IITS. So certainly he should get in one of the IITs based on his rank of JEE ADVANCE. But please note one thing, never compromise with the stream, you are free to compromise with the institutes. If stream of his interest is not taken he will start cutting sorry figures. You have to improve a lot & control negatives in second session of JEE, else it will be tough to get admission through JOSAA.
Alternatively, you can try enrolling for other entrance exams like VITEEE, Manipal, KITEEE, BITSAT, COMEDK, MHTCET, etc., to keep other engineering options open.

Since you've taken a drop and already have some understanding of 12th basics (except maths) and 11th chemistry, you can still aim for a decent JEE Main percentile with a smart strategy. Start by fixing a daily study routine of 6 to 8 focused hours. Prioritize NCERT for Chemistry, especially Inorganic, build your Physics knowledge through conceptual clarity and lots of practice, and begin Maths from basics (NCERT + RD Sharma + previous year questions). Use PYQs regularly to understand the pattern and revise weekly. Practice mock tests from September onwards. If you stay consistent from now, scoring 150–180 marks (95–98 percentile) is achievable.

Last practical suggestion: Focus solely on studies. Set aside all worries. Avoid spending time with demotivating friends and electronic gadgets as much as possible.
