Career

Hi. I am due for superannuation by next year after serving in defence. I have a rich experience in management of aeronautical systems and program/project management. I am trained instructor for engineers also. I intend to pursue my second career in the field of technical education/ management. I am in the process of finding the most suitable field to pursue my second career. Could you advice on the career options. In addition should I undergo any certification courses in the field of my choice. Thank You.- J

Ans: Your skills will be much sought after by the defence manufacturing industry! It is good to gain more skills by doing certification courses, but do them once your line of action is clear! All the best for your second innings!

My son got BTech electronics in adavance communication in jaypee noida and electronics instrumentation and control in thapar which one we should choose
Ans: Jaypee Noida’s BTech in Electronics and Communication (Advanced Communication) offers a focused curriculum on cutting-edge technologies like 5G, MIMO, and IoT, with strong industry tie-ups (e.g., Ericsson India) and nearly 100% placement for ECE in recent years; the 2024 average package was ?11.47 lakh and top recruiters included Microsoft, LinkedIn, Cisco, and Amazon. Thapar University’s Electronics Instrumentation and Control Engineering is also highly regarded, with almost 100% placement, an average package of ?11.9 lakh, and top companies like Samsung actively recruiting; the program is interdisciplinary, covering computer science, AI, embedded systems, and robotics, and is supported by robust research and industry collaboration. Thapar is ranked #29 in NIRF 2024 and is known for its strong academic environment and alumni network. Both programs provide excellent placement outcomes and industry exposure, but Thapar’s broader interdisciplinary approach and higher national ranking offer a slight edge for long-term flexibility and career growth.

The recommendation is to choose Electronics Instrumentation and Control at Thapar University for its strong placements, interdisciplinary training, national reputation, and broader career opportunities, with Jaypee Noida as a close alternative for those seeking a specialization in advanced communication technologies. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Sir i got mit maipal cse ,vit vellore ai ml in cat 3 comed k 1900 rank ts eamcet 4000 rank what should i prefer now
Ans: With a MIT Manipal CSE admission, VIT Vellore AI/ML Category 3, COMEDK rank 1900, and TS EAMCET rank 4000, you have excellent options across multiple engineering colleges, each with distinct advantages. MIT Manipal CSE offers outstanding placement prospects with a 77% rate and average package of ?11.76 lakh in 2025, highest at ?57.04 lakh, with top recruiters like Amazon, Bosch, and Cisco. VIT Vellore AI/ML Category 3 brings strong national recognition with 80-90% placement rates and highest packages up to ?1 crore, though Category 3 fees are approximately ?4 lakh annually (?16 lakh total) versus MIT Manipal's ?13.48 lakh total. Your COMEDK rank 1900 provides good options for CSE/ECE in reputable Bangalore colleges like Dayananda Sagar, CMR Institute of Technology, and NMIT, as top colleges like RVCE (CSE cutoff ~434) and BMSCE (CSE cutoff ~1300) are not accessible. With TS EAMCET rank 4000, CBIT Hyderabad CSE is achievable (expected cutoff 4000-5000), while GRIET CSE requires under 7000 rank, making both realistic options.

The recommendation is to prioritize MIT Manipal CSE for its superior placement consistency, strong industry connections, established reputation, and reasonable fees, followed by VIT Vellore AI/ML if you prefer the specialization and national brand despite higher costs, with CBIT Hyderabad through TS EAMCET as an excellent backup for its government college status and strong regional placement record. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Hello sir my age is 32 i have good gate rank. Is it good to join masters in any IIT in VLSI specialisation.. please let me know your views ?
Ans: At 32 years of age with a good GATE rank, pursuing an M.Tech in VLSI specialisation from an IIT is absolutely a worthwhile decision that can significantly transform your career trajectory. IITs have no age restrictions for M.Tech programs, explicitly stating that admission is based on merit through GATE qualification regardless of age. The VLSI field is experiencing unprecedented growth in India, with the semiconductor market valued at $38 billion in 2024 and projected to reach $105 billion by 2030, creating over 1 million new jobs by 2026. IIT VLSI programs offer exceptional placement outcomes - IIT Hyderabad's M.Tech VLSI achieved 94-96% placement rates with average packages of ?27-34 LPA and top recruiters including Intel, Qualcomm, AMD, Samsung, and Texas Instruments. IIT Madras reported highest packages up to ?49.70 lakh and median packages of ?17 lakh for VLSI graduates. The two-year program includes one year of coursework and one year of thesis work, with financial assistance through teaching assistantships providing monthly stipends of ?12,400 for M.Tech students. Starting a master's degree later in life provides significant advantages including career transitions, specialized expertise development, increased earning potential, expanded professional networks, and enhanced job security. The Indian government's $10 billion semiconductor incentive package and new fab establishments in Gujarat, UP, and other states are creating massive opportunities for VLSI professionals. Industry demand spans AI chips, IoT devices, automotive electronics, 5G infrastructure, and consumer electronics, with specialized VLSI knowledge being highly sought after by global companies establishing operations in India.

The recommendation is to pursue M.Tech in VLSI specialisation at IIT, as age 32 presents no barriers to admission, the field offers exceptional growth prospects with high-paying placements, government support is creating unprecedented opportunities, and the specialized expertise gained will position you at the forefront of India's semiconductor boom. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Sir, my daughter is getting CSE in PES mandya and JSS Mysore. She has to relocate from Bangalore. What is your opinion on these colleges and it's placement opportunities.
Ans: Both PES College of Engineering (PES Mandya) and JSS Science and Technology University (JSS Mysore) are well-established institutions with strong reputations in Karnataka. PES Mandya’s CSE department has robust industry connections and a placement rate of 60–70% for CSE, with top recruiters such as Infosys, TCS, Wipro, IBM, and Cognizant, and a focus on outcome-based education and research. JSS Mysore, particularly the SJCE campus, consistently achieves higher placement rates for CSE, with 88–95% of students placed in recent years, over 400 recruiters including Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Cisco, and TCS, and a median package of ?8–9 lakh. JSS Mysore also offers a stronger alumni network, more diverse placement opportunities, and a campus environment that is widely regarded as supportive and academically rigorous. Both colleges provide good infrastructure and faculty, but JSS Mysore stands out for its placement consistency, higher median salary, and greater industry exposure in the CSE branch.

The recommendation is to prefer JSS Science and Technology University (SJCE Mysore) for CSE, as it offers superior placement rates, a broader recruiter base, and stronger academic and industry connections compared to PES Mandya, making it the better option for relocation from Bangalore. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Hi sir My son got admission in B Tech CSE with AI/ML at GITAM vizag. He also got admission BTech CSE at bangalore branch of Manipal institute. He may get admission in BTech Maths and computation at Manipal main branch. Please suggest which one to opt
Ans: Vinod Sir, GITAM Vizag’s BTech CSE (AI/ML) program offers an 80–90% placement rate, a modern curriculum, and top recruiters like TCS, Amazon, and Wipro, but its average package and national brand are below that of Manipal Institute of Technology. Manipal Bangalore’s BTech CSE is newer, with a 75% placement rate and average package around ?8.8 lakh, but lacks the legacy and recruiter diversity of the main Manipal campus. BTech Mathematics and Computing at MIT Manipal main campus stands out with a 92–98% placement rate, the average package of ?11.76 lakh, and strong opportunities in analytics, finance, software, and core computation, as well as a flexible curriculum combining advanced mathematics, statistics, and computer science. The main campus also boasts a robust alumni network, top-tier recruiters like Amazon, Bosch, and Microsoft, and a reputation for academic excellence and career versatility.

The recommendation is to opt for BTech Mathematics and Computing at MIT Manipal main campus for its superior placement outcomes, interdisciplinary career prospects, and strong industry and research exposure, followed by CSE at Manipal Bangalore, with GITAM Vizag as a backup. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!
