Hi sir...My daughter has got 95 in pcm. .she wants to do PHD in mathematics..is it advisable to take a break and study for IISER for BS MS or get into integrated mathematics couryin VIT

Ans: Jayashri Madam, If your daughter’s ultimate goal is a PhD and research career in Mathematics, preparing for IISER BS-MS is advisable due to its strong research orientation and academic rigor. Taking a break to prepare for IAT can be worthwhile. If she prefers a steady academic program with good placements and less pressure, VIT’s integrated course is a practical alternative. All the best for your daughter's bright future!

Hello Sir, My daughter JEE rank is 152822 and she secured 90.4 in 12th Board. She is keen interested to pursue career in Mathematics and want to pursue research in Mathematics. She got selected in 5 year Integrated M.Sc in Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham and right now we are waiting for Integrated M.Sc results for VIT. She is appearing for other institutes like IISER/BITS/NISER/CUET for B.Tech in M&C or Integrated Mathematics course. Can you please suggest: 1. Which one is better Amrita or VIT in Research. 2. Any chances to get B Tech M&C in JOSA Counseling? 3. Any chances to get B Tech M&C in JAC Counseling?. Thanks
Ans: Kapil Sir,

1) You have NOT mentioned whether you are trying IISER through JEE (or) IAT which is conducted by IISER Itself. If she has scored above 110 in IAT Exam, she will get admission into any one of the IISERs’ 6 Branches. But very less chance through her JEE-Rank. 1st Best Option.
2) As far as BITS is concerned for MSc (Mathematics) , minimum she should score 220 marks out of 390 to get admission into any one of its Branch in Pilani | Goa | Hyderabad. 2nd Best Option.
3) As far as NEST (NISER) is concerned, due to competition, minimum 90% is required.
4) Regarding CUET, as around 40 Universities are participating, chances are MORE your daughter will get admission into any one of these Universities. Shortlist around 10 universities to target.
5) As far 5-Participating Institutes of JAC is concerned, it is difficult to get admission due to tough competition. It is applicable for JOSAA also for her Rank in JEE-Main.
6) As far as Rankings of VIT & Amrita, there is a very slight difference. Your daughter can choose either, keeping in view the Location Preference as you have not mentioned which Location/Branch of VIT or Amrita you are targeting.
7) However, it is ideal to have Plan B & Place C as far as the Course is concerned as back-ups. And make sure she is also interested in Plan B & Plan C.

All The BEST for your Daughter’s Bright Future.
