I was thinking for preparing for CAT exam, (Here is my profile - 81 in 10th , 73 in 12th, 48% in graduation(scored less due to medical condition), 69% in post grad. (Mcom) and 30 months of work experience in Pwc. My question is can i give cat exam as my graduation percentage is below 50 and i am an obc too. And if i cannot give cat exam what other options are availsble for me to do mba from tier 1 colleges which can give me better placements. It would be great if you would give some names for the colleges i should target for.

The Computer Science department at VIT Vellore is among the strongest in private engineering colleges, with advanced lab facilities. Many top JEE Main percentilers (even above 98) choose VIT. Several VITians have gone on to have excellent careers, sometimes even outperforming their IIT/NIT counterparts largely because of their individual initiative, internships, and skill-building. IT, especially if they narrowly miss out on NITs or prefer the modern infrastructure and course flexibility that VIT offers.
Despite these strengths, private colleges in India often face bias. This stems from the legacy and prestige of government institutions like IITs/NITs, which admit students through highly competitive exams and are seen as more merit-driven. In contrast, private colleges are sometimes viewed as less rigorous or overly reliant on high fees and donations, leading to skepticism about their quality.
However, this perception is slowly changing, especially in CS and tech fields where practical skills matter more than college branding. For motivated students, VIT CS offers a strong foundation and the opportunity to build a successful career. Ultimately, outcomes depend more on individual effort than the institution’s name.

Eligibility also requires meeting both section-wise minimum admissible scores (SMAS) and overall percentile (MAP) cut-offs, which for SC candidates correspond to approximately 4–5 marks per section and a 75th percentile in 2025. Given the limited SC seat matrix and higher-ranked candidates, securing admission in either NISER or CEBS Physics is not feasible.

Recommendation: Consider alternative research-oriented institutes like IISERs or state-level integrated M.Sc programmes where SC reservation and closing ranks align with a 56 rank, and prepare for any supplementary entrance or counseling rounds to optimise admission chances.All the BEST for Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Ans: If you want to do research in nanotech, Chemical Engg, Metallurgy, or Engineering Physics at IITs or IISc are excellent foundations.
For deep quantum computing, a Physics or Engineering Physics B.Tech is the best route.
