SIR , WHICH IS THE BETTER WAY TO REPLACE A DAMAGED TOOTH , BRIDGE OR CROWN ?

Ans: Hello

Good question. The answer depends on the extent of damage the tooth has suffered. If the damage is not extensive and if the tooth can be sufficiently strengthened (with a post-core, for instance), then a CROWN would be the ideal choice. In such a case, the neighbouring teeth need not be involved.
But if the tooth is extensively damaged and may not provide sufficient support for a crown, then it's necessary to take support from adjacent teeth. In such cases, a BRIDGE is better than a crown.
There are many kinds of crowns and bridges. Your dentist can guide you only after examining your damaged tooth.

Hi Dr. Shyam, My mother is 60yrs, recently she lost her upper right molar tooth. She is planning to cover the gap with a fake tooth. Dentist recommended Implant or Bridging. But, now, before going with either option, I would like to know how to choose between an implant and a bridge? Considering her age, what is the best option?

Ans: The best option for her would depend on the health of her jaw bone and gums and also her general health and co-morbidities, if any. All other conditions being favorable an implant would be the better option.

Hi, i have dental issues , my upper left side of the jaw has teeth no 4&5 on which RCT is in progress since march 2023. it was very painful for tooth4 and mild for 5, so i changed dentist on 1 may and new dentist took full month of may to do RCT for 4 & 5 again. now pain has disappeared in 5 but remains in 4. the new dentist says that there is a pocket between 4 &3 and i have copy of xray that shows that. i m not sure this dentist is telling the right reasons, as some other dentist says that condition of 4 is so bad that filling inside it is visible from outside and extraction is last resort.. my question is what should i do? protecting a tooth at all costs is more important or shall i go for extraction.

Sorry to hear that even after two months your RCTs have not been completed to your satisfaction. There could be a variety of reasons why this is happening. Despite the impressive advances in Dental treatment procedures we still see some cases that are untreatable. And while we spare no effort to save natural teeth, in some cases extraction becomes unavoidable. What is important is that you get complete relief from pain/discomfort. Whether to extract it or continue with the treatment is a call you have to take in consultation with your dentist.

A bridge is an economical option to replace missing teeth provided you have strong, healthy anchor teeth on either side of the gap. But if, as you say, the remaining teeth are also not in good shape then implants should be considered. Please note your gums and jawbone should be healthy in order to support implants. Please consult a good Prosthodontist (a dentist who specialises in teeth replacement) to get your oral health evaluated and find the best solution

Which course will be better & which university/ college should i choose for her ..please suggest. I don't have vast knowledge about this.

Is it a first drop or attempt? Kindly clarify.
Congrats that your daughter wanting to become a doctor. So her main goal is to succeed in the NEET exam. In this context she should divert by doing some useless course that to the course (bioinformatica) that you have mentioned can be pursued online. Secondly, biotech course can't be pursued online. To get a qualification, one has to attend the course regularly, then only they or anyone can acquire skills in the BT stream...Many universities/colleges are not well-equipped for BT. I think you might have noticed that our government is planning to spend lakhs of crores for BIOPHARMA.
So my suggestion is, let her prepare for the NEET exam without any hindrance. Also, she should not divert from other aspects.

Ans: No, after BAMS, no course legally permits you to practice allopathic (MBBS) medicine independently. You must complete an MBBS degree to practice allopathic medicine.

Ans: CSE @ Thapar is better than SNU. And SNU is newer and slightly behind in reputation and placements compared to Thapar and VIT. Yet, there is no harm in going with SNU.
