I am 59 years old having 84kgs weight my height is 5 ' and 10" during walking I feel pain in my ankles maximum in left ankle I got the X rays which shows the gap in left ankle .Some doctors said reduce your weight some said fo for walks actually when I cannot walk so it is difficult for me to go for walks please advise me what to do while wearing knee caps it gives me a lot of relief and I am able to walk freely.

Ans: Dear Mr. Dileep. Thank you for your query. As a physiotherapist, I recommend consulting a physiotherapist first for a personalized treatment plan. Physiotherapist can help you focus on weight management to reduce stress on your ankles and engage in non-weight-bearing exercises like swimming or cycling to stay active without increasing pain. Ankle strengthening and mobility exercises, such as ankle circles and heel raises, can help improve joint stability. Continue using knee caps during walks for relief and wear supportive, cushioned footwear. Ice therapy and elevating your ankle will assist with pain and swelling management. Wishing you a happy recovery!
