What are the selection crieteria for CBSE boards..to get into IIIT HYDERABAD.. through the Boards channel.. as this board is way standardised and difficulty level is obviously more than any other state boards.. please clarify the above query.. thanks.

Ans: Nikitha, It is observed that a majority of students who succeed in engineering entrance examinations come from the CBSE Board, although students from other boards also qualify. Regarding admission to IIIT Hyderabad, candidates are required to appear for the institute’s own entrance examination, the Undergraduate Entrance Examination (UGEE), which is highly competitive. Only those candidates who are shortlisted based on their UGEE performance are called for an interview as part of the final selection process.

It's so true. Agreed. But there is this option of "boards channel" which considers lateral entry bt means of board percentage. The selection criteria is what I wanted to know. As of now, it's mentioned atleast 90% in mathematics from any of the standardized boards and PCM aggregate of more than 90% (not specified though), so please let me know based on experience about students who have enrolled and has been shortlisted for an interview. It would be great if you share the contact. With regards Nikitha. Thanks

Hello Sir, My son got 98.07 percentile in JEE mains and a rank of 29494. We are general category and haryana domicile. Booked a a CSE seat in Thapar and got IIIT bhopal (CSE-CPS) in the round 1 of JoSSA. CSE in LNMIT is another option. Kindly advice where I should freeze the admission. Any chances to get Tier 1 NITs or IIITs in further rounds?
Ans: With a JEE Main percentile of 98.07 and a rank of 29,494 (General, Haryana domicile), your son is unlikely to secure CSE in Tier 1 NITs or IIITs in further JoSAA rounds, as top NITs and IIITs typically close CSE admissions well below 10,000–15,000 rank for the general category. Thapar University CSE offers nearly 100% placement for CS, an average package of ?7–12 lakh, and a strong national brand with top recruiters like Microsoft, Amazon, and JP Morgan. IIIT Bhopal (CSE-CPS) has a 77% CSE placement rate with an average package above ?18 lakh, but is newer, operates from a temporary campus, and has less established infrastructure and alumni. LNMIIT Jaipur CSE is also a reputable option, with a 95%+ placement rate and an average package of ?12 lakh, but Thapar’s industry connections and placement consistency are stronger. The recommendation is to freeze the CSE seat at Thapar University for its superior placements, academic environment, and industry recognition, as further JoSAA rounds are unlikely to yield a Tier 1 NIT or IIIT CSE seat at your current rank. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!

My daughter got CSE AI in IGDTU Delhi, and CSE in IIEST Shivpur college....which one we should choose
Ans: Susmita Madam, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women’s B.Tech CSE–AI programme is NAAC-accredited and NIRF-ranked, delivered by PhD-qualified faculty through a dedicated Centre of Excellence in AI with specialized labs for computer vision, NLP and deep learning. It reports a 73 percent placement rate for CSE–AI, an average package of ?22.82 LPA and strong industry-research collaborations with government bodies and tech firms. IIEST Shibpur’s B.Tech CSE is part of an Institute of National Importance, offers NBA-accredited curricula in OOPS, DBMS and digital logic, supports robust research centres (DataKart CoE, AI labs) and achieves an 86.2 percent CSE placement consistency, with recruiters such as Google, Microsoft and Accenture participating in campus drives. Both institutions maintain modern infrastructure, interdisciplinary project opportunities and active placement cells.

Recommendation:
Given higher CSE placement consistency, broader recruiter engagement and the Institute of National Importance status, IIEST Shibpur’s CSE offers the stronger long-term career platform. However, if specialized AI research and a women-centric campus environment are priorities, IGDTUW’s CSE–AI remains an excellent choice. All the BEST for Admission & a Prosperous Future!
