Hi my son is studying BCA 2nd year now... He is intrested in cyber security courses but I checked with upgrad they are suggesting not to take cyber security as the field is declining and told us to do data science or data analysis or AI course... Kindly share your thought..

Ans: Cyber security is not a declining field. In fact, it's becoming more and more important. Every company – whether it's a bank, hospital, school, or IT firm – needs cyber protection.
The number of cyber attacks and data breaches is increasing, so the demand for skilled people in this field is also growing. So if your son has a genuine interest in cyber security, please don’t ignore it just because someone said it's not trending.
Data Science, AI and Data Analysis, these fields are also very good and in demand – especially in tech, finance, healthcare, and research.
But they require a strong interest in statistics, math, and programming. If your son enjoys that, it’s a good path.
But if he’s more curious about ethical hacking, digital forensics, network security, malware tracking, etc., then cyber security is the right fit.

Thank you so much sir... If possible kindly guide us the right course to do following his cyber security passion...
Ans: Here’s a simple path I recommend:
Step 1: Basic Foundation
Start with a good beginner-level course like:
• Google Cybersecurity Certificate (Coursera)
• Introduction to Cyber Security – by Cisco Networking Academy or edX
These will give him the basics—networking, security tools, and concepts.
Step 2: Hands-On Learning
After basics, go for:
• CompTIA Security+ – industry-recognized and job-focused
• CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) – if he's serious about ethical hacking
Also explore TryHackMe and Hack The Box – these are free/paid platforms with real-world practice.
Step 3: Internships & Projects
Let him do small internships, even unpaid, to build real experience. Many startups, cyber firms, or even colleges have basic security needs.
Step 4: Plan for Higher Studies (if needed)
After BCA, he can go for:
• MCA with specialization in cyber security, or
• M.Tech/MS in Cyber Security (India or abroad), or
• PG Diploma in Cyber Security from places like IIIT Bangalore, CDAC, or Amrita University
Most important: Let him build a GitHub profile or portfolio, and collect certificates from the courses. Companies value skills more than just degrees now.
He can grow well in this field with interest + practice. You're guiding him in the right direction.

My daughter failed in class 9th and now she has enrolled in NIOS secondary . There is lot of free time . What can she do keep herself busy?
Ans: Before I answer your question, Vikas Sir, I want to ensure that your daughter doesn't spend more than 45 minutes a day on her phone or other electronic devices. If your daughter becomes addicted, she risks eye strain, headaches from blue light, poor posture, weight gain from inactivity, sleep issues from late-night use, and eating problems. It can also hurt her mind by making her depressed and anxious (27% more likely), making it difficult to concentrate and study, making her feel lonely and isolated from less real interaction, making her feel low self-esteem from comparison traps, and making her stressed and irritable from dopamine crashes.

Even if both parents work, keep communication open to boost her confidence—know what she loves. She should study 4-5 hours daily using NIOS books/SWAYAM and Class 10 mocks with the Pomodoro technique (25-30 mins study, 5-10 mins break) to stay focused. Add 30 minutes of skills like coding/typing or Duolingo English if interested, plus 10 minutes of yoga, hobbies (gardening/cooking/drawing/poems), and walks/cycling for fitness and fun. Finally, join NIOS WhatsApp groups for doubts and help at home and track weekly goals with rewards. Don't force anything—let her choose what excites her most! All the BEST for Your Daughter's Prosperous Future!
