Dr Dipankar Dutta is an associate professor in the computer science and engineering department at the University Institute of Technology, the University of Burdwan, West Bengal.
He has 27 years of experience and his interests include AI, data science, machine learning, pattern recognition, deep learning and evolutionary computation.
Aside from his responsibilities at the college, he also delivers lectures and conducts webinars.
Dr Dipankar has published 25 papers in international journals, written book chapters, attended conferences, served as a board observer for WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination) exams and as a counsellor for engineering college admissions in West Bengal. He helps students choose the right college and stream for undergraduate, masters and PhD programmes.
A senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (SMIEEE), he holds a bachelor's degree in engineering from the Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College and a an MTech degree in computer technology from Jadavpur University.

sor i failed pcm in class 12 but i will reappear as private candidate cbse should i prepare a medical certificate for further admission in collages for this one year gap?

Ans: No, you do not need a medical certificate just because you have a one-year gap after failing PCM and reappearing as a private candidate through CBSE.

sir i am ayush , i passed my 10th in 2024 with 91% marks ..... then i took admission in 11th in the same school but soon i got Asthma and later on jaundice , so i could neither go to school nor study ...... now my health is ok ........ i took TC from my school and took admission in another school in class 11th again ..... means i am repeating class 11th ...... i am preparing JEE ..... will my gap year/11th repeat cause any problem in future college admissions and job interviews or placements....... will i have to show some proof of my illness ? because i don't have any prescriptions because i got cured with ayurvedic medicines ...... sir please answer my questions should i make a gap year certificate sir ? ..... if yes what should i write on it ? means i should write that i took admission in 11th but because of health issues i could not go to school or simply write that i had to take a gap year after 10th due to illness .

Yes, when applying for a job, they may inquire about your health. Sometimes they may accept your application, but other times they may not. This largely depends on the type of condition you have. Asthma and jaundice generally do not impact your studies.

For jaundice, recovery may take about 15 to 20 days, while asthma is a lifelong condition. The important thing is to take your medication consistently and without any gaps. Therefore, having asthma or jaundice shouldn't be a dealbreaker for your application.

Sometimes, revealing the truth about your condition, rather than fabricating reasons, can improve your chances of getting hired.

Always avoid fraudulent activities, as they can lead to lost job opportunities and damage your trustworthiness.

So, be honest.

I have completed class 12th from Maharashtra board in 2023 can I reappear in class 12th board exam in Feb 2026 to improve my score through form no 17 ?? Is it risky for my career in medical feild??

Ans: Yes. You can reappear using Form No. 17 for score improvement in Feb 2026, and it is not risky for a medical career, as improvement exams are valid and accepted. Be worry-free and focus on the upcoming improvement examination. Appear with an ignited mind to score more.

Ans: Chances with top NITs are nil. You have borderline chances with newer/lower NITs, and even then only with lower-demand branches. Keep other option in backup.

Ans: Yes for JEE (Mains). But JEE Advanced eligibility is strict and depends on the year of your first Class 12 pass, plus official rules for that session. i..e you will not be eligible for JEE (Adv)

Kya mai cbse board se 11th and 12th de ke eligible ho sakta hoon

Ans: But why do you want to do this exercise? Without doing this exercise, it would be better to prepare for JEE (Main) and try to score higher so that you can get a seat in a decent college. You can save money, time, and mental headache!
I already replied to you. Not recommended to appear via CBSE. Better reappear via NIOS.

My son has got 93.88percentile in JEE mains 2026 with General rank 95539 and OBC NCL rank 31008 in tamilnadu . I request you to kindly guide me can he get admission in any nits iiits .

Ans: Based on your son's score, chances of admission to NIT Trichy CSE/ECE are extremely low, and even lower branches may be difficult due to the high cutoffs at NIT Trichy. Admission to IIITs for CSE/ECE through regular JoSAA rounds is also challenging, but it is advisable to try CSAB Special Round for newer IIITs and GFTIs. Consider options like IIIT Agartala, IIIT Manipur, IIIT Kalyani, IIIT Bhagalpur, IIIT Ranchi, Assam University, Gurukula Kangri, and BIT Mesra off-campuses, provided you and your son are mentally prepared for these campuses. Additionally, it is recommended to have 5–6 backup options in reputed private engineering colleges apart from participating in TNEA counselling, such as SSN, SNU, Sastra, Amrita, VIT, Sathyabhama, Saveetha and also some other reputed Private Engineering Colleges based on your/son's preferred locations within Tamil Nadu, instead of relying only on JoSAA.
