Hi Sir, I am an IT Professional and working at India's TOP IT sector (TCS) . I have more than 16 years of exp in IT field and i want to pursue MBA so Is it good to appear for CAT, XAT,MAT for a full fledged 2 years or appear for GMAT (wich is 1 year)

Ans: GMAT (1 year) would be preferred. Look at option of doing MBA from abroad or a specialised Management course related to your filed.

Hello Sir, I am 32 years of GEM candidate with academics of 74.6/84.2/73.5 and 75 months of work experience in the automobile industry (operations function - lean manufacturing implementation and competence development). I left my job in Nov 2020 to prepare for the civil service examination. I have invested 3 years but could not succeed. I want to make a comeback in the private sector but not in the operations function. I want to build my career in HRM and Organization Development function. For this I am considering 2 year PG courses offered by XLRI, TISS, MDI and some of the IIMs. However, some of my friends are suggesting I rather go for 1 year MBA programs from ISB/IIMs/XLRI. I have gone through the placement reports of those MBA programs and found very fewer roles offered in HRM domain. Moreover, there are chances that based on my profile and past experience, I may land up in the operations domain. In a confused state. What should I do? Should I go for a 2 year MBA or 1 year MBA?

Ans: Try for both options - 2 year MBA and 1 year MBA. Wherever you get a better college take it up. CAT, XAT and GMAT exams are similar an you can prepare simultaneously for it.

Sir, I have completed my Graduation in Btech in 2023 and I have done Diploma course in Embedded Systems now I have joined in one company but I want take CAT exam for MBA to get into IIT Delhi, IIM Bangalore,FMS, IIT Bombay. So how should I plan and how much percentile should I score to get into above institute?

Hi Sir..I am 25 year old female currently thinking of giving cat exams.I graduated in 2020 from an engineering background.post that I started preparing for upsc full time ,which I have not been able to clear so far. I have no work experience and I do not wish to work in the IT sector.My academic profile is 95%,86%and 8.7 cgpa. So I want to ask you if doing an MBA from any IIM would ensure me a good placement provided I crack CAT and convert some IIM. Or I should join a tier 3 MBA clg in blore as a back up if I don't clear cat. I am very confused sir.so please help me.

Ans: It does not make sense to join a tier 3 MBA college if you have a potential to get into IIMs. Give a good shot for CAT and try to get into a good college. If you do not get admission in good college then can look at tier 2 or tier 3 colleges. If possible take up a job so that your gap does not increase.

I am 27 years old. I want to prepare for CAT and try for MBA in one of the top mba colleges. I have 1.5 years work gap and 1.8 years work ex. I am really confused between trying and improving in IT sector (tier 3 engg grad) or try for mba. I am jobless right now. Please help.

Ans: If you are interested in IT field then look for opportunities in that field by doing courses that are job relevant. Simultaneously can start preparing for MBA entrance exams. But it is recommended that you prepare for MBA entrance while working as you already have a gap.

Hello ! I m qualified GATE this year in XE with score of 389 general category. There are very less chances of getting good IIT and branch for mtech so what is best option should I take admission in any clg or should I prepare for another attempt????

Ans: Hi
With this score, getting into top IITs (like IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, or IIT Madras) for core branches like Mechanical, Civil, or interdisciplinary programs is difficult, but not impossible for newer IITs or interdisciplinary branches.
You may have chances in NITs, IIITs, and newer IITs, especially in non-core or interdisciplinary programs (Materials, Energy, Environment, Applied Mechanics, etc.).

Participate in COAP and CCMT rounds—see what you get.
If you are not happy with what you are getting, reappear at GATE and try to improve it.

My Son Mohit. He has completed his graduation from symbiosis. Bcom in accounting and finance parallelly he completely ACCA and now he is certified ACCA professional. He is been working for last 4 years but there is not much growth in the career due to limited growth in Bahrain country. He is looking forward for master courses which can enhance his skills to career breakthrough and simultaneously for job. Kindly advise. He is member of Toastmasters Club and his speaking and communication skills are well-known.

Ans: One option would be to try for executive mba course which is 1 year course for which he will have to write GMAT. Other options could be to do professional courses like DFA or FRM if he wants to build a career in Finance. Third option would be to do short term courses that would enhance your skill set in your current job. Considering what you have written, first option looks more appropriate.

Dear Sir My son got admission in to MIT Manipal CSE. Now got admission offer from BITS Hyderabad for dual degree with M.Sc Economics. Core branch will allot after one year. Please advise which one to choose ?

Ans: If you are keen on CSE then MIT Manipal. Else BITS Hyderabad is a better brand. But not sure if he would be interested in MSc Economics if he is interested in Engg.

Ans: JEE Advanced does not prescribe a separate fixed “cut-off score” for foreign nationals beyond the standard qualifying marks and board requirements; instead, all foreign candidates register directly (without JEE Main) and compete for supernumerary seats capped at 10% per course. Eligibility mandates a Class 12 (or equivalent) pass with at least 75% aggregate (65% for SC/ST) and inclusion in the top 20 percentile of their board examinations. To qualify, foreign nationals must meet the same section?wise and aggregate cut?offs in JEE Advanced as Indian candidates—typically around 10–15% of total marks overall with minimal subject cut?offs—which vary each year based on exam difficulty and candidate performance.
