HI Praseeja, I currently have a package of 85 lakh per annum in Delhi. I have an offer of 1.20 lakh USD per annum in Texas, USA. what should i do in this case ? please advise. Regards

Ans: Hi Praseeja, are you required to relocate to Texas, USA, or is it a remote opportunity? If it's remote, it's worth considering. If you need to relocate, it is not a financially attractive jump.

Thank you so much for your advice. Yes they want me to relocate to Texas. i will take your advice and reject the offer. They told me life is better in US and work culture is good in US as compared to India. The downside for me is leaving old parents alone and moving to US.

Hi Mayank,I am facing a dilemma. I have to choose between two job options -- the existing one and the new offer which I got some 15 days back.Currently, I am in the teaching field in a coaching institute which is in my native place where I live with parents (they don't want to move to a new place and I need to see them).I have another job offer in a metropolitan city which is very far from my native place (2,000 km). Though it is in a reputed institute, it is for the same teaching position.Now, I am confused as to whether I should continue in my present job or take up the new job.I love teaching and both jobs offer almost same salary and same position. But the opportunity for growth is better in the new company.At the same time, I don’t want leave my parents and they don't want shift with me to the new place.I am totally confused, please help me to decide.ThanksGeetu

1. Many professionals are moving from metros to smaller towns for better quality of life.

2. Time with parents is invaluable.

3. Changing your job in these uncertain times is not advisable unless you are getting a dream job.

Your current roles seem to give you job satisfaction, market competitive salary and, above all, quality time with your family.

I would suggest that you make the most of it and continue with your current role.

Dear Mayank, I work as a consultant and have applied for a new role at two different organisations. One is offering me a good compensation but I will have to relocate to a remote continent for two years. The other organisation is offering me lesser compensation but will require me to travel at least 3-4 days a week (but within the country and it can be quite exhausting.) I am confused because both jobs are exciting in their own way but will require me to stay away from my family. Pls help.

You will first need to evaluate which job is providing you better learning opportunities and what competencies you will develop in each role.

Also, your personal preference is very important along with the brand of the organisation.

Many of us have to sacrifice our personal life to build a strong career, so be prepared for that.

Hi Abhishek, I have a package of almost 2.1 CR (equivalent in USD) in SF. I am in the data field and have almost 20 years of experience plus a master's degree. I am negotiating with a company in India , but want to know what salary I should quote to begin the negotiation. This is in Bombay/Pune.

Ans: Hi,
You can give them the details of your current salary and let them make an offer. HR would make an offer after factoring in the living cost and taking into account the Purchasing power parity. Meanwhile you can also do research on the cost of living and the salary you would need in INR to maintain the same or better lifestyle. Directly converting USD to INR for salary would expecting the same would not be a great idea. Take into consideration the living expenses and purchasing power aswell.
