sir i am 46 years old with fasting sugar 105 and pp sugar is 85 . pl suggest how to get normal range of sugar.

Ans: Increase physical activity to atleast 30 to 60 min a day for atleast 5 days in a week with not more than 2 days gap.
Modify diet and reduce carbohydrate and reduce portions. eat a lot of vegetables and salads. Avoid refined flour or packaged food items. recheck after 3 months and also get HbA1C done.

Sir, Myself male, 51 yrs old, physically very active , was into intense weight training for more than 2 decades and took Whey protein supplements regularly. My BP is under control. Though I don't have any swelling at feet or any other inconvenience, my blood Creatinine level is 2.5 mg/dL. Creatinine Urine Spot is 175.6 mg/dL, Protein urine spot is 87.1 m/dL. Is it normal to have this level of Creatinine for someone who has been training regularly? Pls advise. Thanks in advance.

Ans: You partly know the answer to your question.
Since you are on high protein diet, some of this is impact of that protein supplement.
However, whenever taking any supplement, please discuss with a physician or health care providers. In India, supplements are not that well regulated and there have been reports of harmful content in those supplements.

Ans: The single reading has limited value. Please do BP charting atleast twice in a day for next 10 days.
Are you on any anti hypertensive medication?

Get lipid profile and kidney profile done.

Consult a physician along with Bp charting and basic lab tests.

I am 55yrs male pre-diabetic from last 8years having HbA1c around 6 and blood sugar fasting around 110. Recently my blood cretinine level got increased from 1.2 to 1.7. The doctor prescribed tablet nephrosave forte and mysoda,one tablet per day and advised stop taking red meat. After one month my cretinine level came to 1.2. Now I take only nephrosave forte tablet daily. I am feeling normal and don't have any problems in urination although my prostate megaly is of grade 1 level. I am taking dapagliflozin 5mg tablet for controlling sugar levels. I am taking olmisartan 40mg tablet for high blood pressure and Rosuvas 5F tablet for triglyceride cholesterol control. Kindly advise how to treat my cretinine problem so thatmy kidneys functionnormally. Thanking you in anticipation.

Ans: Please get comprehensive health check up done with detailed blood reports. Also, please get urine albumin creatinine ratio done which is more specific and early marker of kidney functions.

I need to know various lab and other parameters before I can advise on medications. However, unless your Triglyceride levels are beyound 1000, your dont need F component of Rosuvas.

For all the conditions, the lifestyle modifications- diet and physical activity will help.

I have a Creatinine level of 2.1. Kindly advise how to reduce or any medication to be taken

Ans: As I have responded as part of other queries, normally, creatinine is in the range of 0.7 to 1.4 in healthy individuals with some increase over period of time/age. Your creatinine parameters are going beyound that range. Since I dont know your age, it is not possible for me to estimate your GFR. However, that value itself is an indicator your kidney functions are compromised.

It would be useful if you get Urine Albumin Creatinine Ratio (UACR) done and which will provide additional information about albuminuria etc.

Effective control of blood pressure would ensure that you can halt deterioration in kidney function. One consultation with Nephrologist will be useful.

I am a male, 73 yrs, retired, having hypertension under control, no other significant symptoms. I developed hypertension by age 40 years. Am on tab Losartan 50 mg bid+tab Aten 25 mg of+ Esam 5 mg at night. My creatinine is around 1.4-1.5 past 15 years. What is my risk of kidney damage?

Ans: Long standing- specially uncontrolled hypertension- has risk of development of kidney disease. Considering you have hypertension for last 40 years, it is not surprising that early sign of kidney disease have started appearing.
Normally, creatinine is in in range of 0.7 to 1.4 in healthy individuals with some increase over period of time/age. Your creatinine parameters are going beyound that range and your EGFR is around 49. That essentially mean your kidney functions are compromised and this would be classified as Chronic Kidney Disease stage 3a.
It would be useful if you get Urine Albumin Creatinine Ratio (UACR) done and which will provide additional information about albuminuria etc.

Effective control of blood pressure would ensure that you can halt deterioration in kidney function. One consultation with Nephrologist will be useful.
