My parents are telling me to go for computer science engineering as I am getting reputed colleges..According to them , I might learn other skills which are required If I will move out of hometown for studying otherwise If I will go for CA I will have to spent minimum 5 years studying only..Also I am not sure If I will start my firm after it or not..They are telling me that I will have choice even after engineering to move back to hometown or not..They don't want my money as they are independent people..If you ask me why I am considering CA , there are only 2 reason one is there are less CA and other there is chance of doing something of own and settling in my hometown So should I go for CA having these two reasons only???...Due to this all, I am really unable to decide about my career..please guide me

I HAD JUST GIVEN JEE ADVANCED 2024 AND I CAN GET GOOD BRANCHES IN IITS BUT I AM CONFUSED ABOUT WHETHER TO DO ENGINEERING OR NOT BECAUSE EVERYONE ARE SAYING THAT ENGINEERING IS DEAD STUFF LIKE THAT,,EVEN ENGINEERS USED TO BLAME ENGINEERING..DUE TO THIS ALL I AM AFRAID AND TENSED..I LIKED MATHS AND NUMBERS...ONE MORE PROBLEM IS THAT I BELONGED TO A GUJARATI FAMILY LIVING IN SURAT..EVERYONE IN MY FAMILYHOOD ARE IN BUSINESS..SO I THINK THAT IF I WILL SETTLE IN MY HOMETOWN THEN IT WOULD BE GOOD FOR ME MENTALLY AND FINANCIAL..SO SHOULD I CONSIDER CA COURSE AS I HAD HEARED THAT INDIA NEEDS CA...DUE TO THIS ALL I AM REALLY CONFUSE BETWEEN ENGINEERING AND CA...I WANT TO DO SOMETHING OF MY OWN..PLEASE HELP ME...

Ans: I read your questions thoroughly and my suggestions:

Keeping in view some important factors (which you have mentioned) like, (1) You are good in Maths & Numbers (2) Business Background of Your Family (3) Your Preference for Your Mental & Financial Satisfaction in Your Hometown, I suggest you to go for CA which will help you to be independent and also your family members.

However, please do a thorough RESEARCH about the CA Course such as, Course Curriculum / Subjects, Articleship Requirements, Preparation & Study Strategies, the Minimum of Hours you have to spend every day, the Coaching Centres you should join & other relevant factors that you think you should take into consideration.

Sir, Me & my wife got HDFC Life Youngstar super premium with Rs. 1 Lac premium each. The 5 years lock in period is over. Should I continue for another 5 years or surrender?

Ans: Surrender will cause lot of charges and since you already have market exposure through ULIP therefore I recommend you to continue it. Invest in Bluechip and opportunities fund for long term. Also since your policy is before Feb-2021, your gains out of ULIP plan will be 100% tax free(No capital gain) at maturity as per Section 10(10D).

Sir, My relative, aged 55, was disgnosed wth Myelodyeplastic Syndrome with del 5q in 2020. She was treated in a reputed hospital OPD with tapered medication process. Present status stopped medications, for more than six months. As precautionary measure, planned reviews are desired. She is continuing health insurance for many years with no mention and no claims. Please guide us insurance related risks and relevant declarations while renewing the health insurance, based on IRDA regulations. Regards

Ans: You should have disclosed this medical condition at the time it arose despite the fact that you did not raise any claim.

Any change in health status of the persons covered in the health care policy should be updated to insurer well in advance before the renewal immediately after change of health status. In the absence of this, the healthcare provider can refuse any further claim for the person whose health status has changed.

Do it now, assess their response and then decide about next steps.

Good greatings, I am getting Civil or Chemical in BIT mesra and AI ML in BIT Patna. Also have an option of CSE with specialization in Bhagwan Parshuram IPU college. Which one should I choose? Actually I want to become a Pilot. Have interest in aviation, but due to financial issue I can't afford this course. So I want to earn and fulfill my aim. Please suggest me the best option. I have also got 740 rank in IMU cet( Merchant Navy exam)

Ans: Pushkar, Prefer IMU-Merchant Navy (make sure it has good placement records), followed by BIT-P-AIML, CSE-Specialization and then Chemical & Civil. One of my close relatives has sold his agricultural land for Rs 80 lacs. He wants to keep aside Rs 25 lacs for his daughter marriage. Remaining amount he wants to invest in such a way that he gets around 50000 per month income for his expenses besides maintaining liquidity as well. Pl suggest.

Ans: He may do a lumpsum/staggered investment into equity savings fund(moderately high risk)(For eg Mirae Asset Equity Savings fund-Growth, best 5 yr return in its category) for 8 years. Assuming a conservative return of 11% his corpus would grow to 1.27 Cr after 8 years. Then he can initiate an SWP at the rate of 5% which will yield a monthly payout of around 53 K.
