Jaynandan Question by Jaynandan on May 28, 2025
Career

Sir, this is jaynandan. Sir I scored 95.076 percentile in jee mains with crl 74203 and category rank (obc-ncl) with 22947. Sir, i don't have any guider and mentors about guide me for choosing colleges and for my future career. I requesting you to sir please give me the guidance for my college selection or other decision i.e I should have to take drop for next year. I hope you understand me sir. Please reply me sir.

Ans: Jaynandan, With a 95.076 percentile in JEE Main (CRL 74,203, OBC-NCL 22,947), you have cleared the qualifying cutoff for JEE Advanced and are eligible for JoSAA counselling. While admission to top NITs and CSE branches is unlikely, you have good chances for core branches (like Mechanical, Civil, ECE, Chemical, or Bioengineering) in newer or mid-tier NITs (e.g., NIT Jalandhar, NIT Raipur, NIT Agartala, NIT Meghalaya), some IIITs, and GFTIs. Explore all branches and institutes during counselling, focusing on your interests and career goals. If you are passionate about a top branch or college, and believe you can significantly improve your score with dedicated preparation, consider a drop year—but only if you are highly motivated and have a clear plan. Otherwise, proceed with available options and make the most of college opportunities, internships, and skill development for a strong engineering career. Have some more options as back-ups by applying to Private Engineering Colleges in your/neighboring States (with your JEE Score) if college fee is affordable by your parents. All the best for your admission and a bright future!

Sir, I have 2 doubts. 1st is - is eastern nits like meghalaya, agartala etc are worth it ? 2nd is that is mechanical civil chemical etc branches are futuristic because we see the highly increasing value of artificial intelligence (AI) in our daily life. So, will I have to focus on these branches ?
Ans: Eastern NITs like NIT Meghalaya and NIT Agartala are definitely worth considering. They offer solid academic programs, improving infrastructure, and respectable placement records with top recruiters and competitive salary packages. Their location in the northeast is no longer a disadvantage due to increased connectivity and government focus on regional development. These NITs provide a great platform for students to build strong technical foundations and launch successful careers.
Traditional branches such as Mechanical, Civil, and Chemical Engineering remain highly relevant and futuristic when combined with AI and automation skills. AI acts as an enabler rather than a replacement in these domains. Students should focus on gaining domain expertise while also developing AI and data analytics skills to stay competitive.
In conclusion, don’t shy away from core branches because of AI’s rise. Instead, embrace interdisciplinary learning. If you are inclined towards AI and software, consider CSE or ECE with AI specialization, but if you prefer core engineering, choose branches like Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical and supplement your skills with AI knowledge. Eastern NITs provide good opportunities in both core and emerging fields.

Career
Hello sir kindly help me with ur guidance I got 339623 crl rank, 47792 ews rank in jee 2025 81.6 % in 12 th I want a college for B-tech I tried ipu counselling all 3 rounds , HSTES counselling all 2 rounds but got neither of colleges Help me out to get a college for my career I am stuck what should I do or not Which college i should prefer which not It would really help me if u provide some guidance
Ans: With a JEE Main CRL of 339,623, EWS rank of 47,792, and 81.6% in 12th, securing government or top-tier institutions is not feasible, but several reputed private universities and central/state technical institutes offer admission. Options include JK Institute of Applied Physics and Technology (Allahabad), BIT Patna, National Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (Ranchi), JNU New Delhi, International Institute of Information Technology (Bhubaneswar), Puducherry Technological University, Central University of Rajasthan, Assam University (Silchar), Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya (Haridwar), Institute of Infrastructure, Technology, Research and Management (Ahmedabad), Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (Bilaspur), J.K. Institute at Allahabad University, Sant Longwal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Mizoram University (Aizwal), and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. These colleges offer accredited programs, experienced and research-driven faculty, well-equipped modern laboratories, steady or improving placement records, and strong student support services. Flexibility in branch selection (such as CSE/EEE/IT/ECE where available) and a focus on core skills will increase employability. Early application before spot or vacancy rounds close is critical, and reviewing fee structures, campus environment, and placement trends can guide final choices. Have 5-7 other Private Engineering Colleges also as back-ups instead of relying only on CSAB & Govt. Colleges. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!
