I'm an NRI student with a 97.8 percentile in JEE Mains. Should I choose NUS (Singapore) for Electrical Engineering with Robotics or an NIT for CSE?

Hello, My son got offer from NUS ( singapore) in Electrical engineering with robotic specialisation and he has secured 97.8 percentile in JEE main. As we are NRI we have applied through DASA quote so probably with last year rank he may have a chance to get NIT warangal CSE but for sure he will get ECE in NIT trichy or in NIT Surathkal . Could you please guide me which one is best option.?

Ans: Order of Preference (1) NIT-W-CSE (2) NIT-T-ECE (3) NIT-S. You have NOT mentioned where your studied till 12th Standard? If he has been abroad since his childhood, will the atmosphere of NITs be suitable for him? Please think over, discuss with your son & ask his opinion. All 3-NITs are good, but will he be psychologically satisfied with the atmosphere prevailing there, compared to Abroad Educational Institutions? Keeping these factors in view, have NUS (Singapore) as your 1st preference, if decided not to join NIT. All the BEST for your Son.

Yes he has been studying in Singapore for past four years. Just wondering which option would be better for future career
Ans: NIT-W-CS is good. But as I told earlier, if he will be able to manage / adjust with the atmosphere (keeping in view he has been in Singapore atmosphere) in India, he can go ahead. His psychological satisfaction is also more important. If not, he can't focus on studies and can get demotivated. Please discussion with your son about the difference of atmosphere in India & Singapore.

Good Evening Sir. My son secured 6812 Crl alongwith 99.56 percentile and 1st, 2nd, 3rd of JOSAA rounds he getting ECE in IIIT Alahabad. We are awiting for next higher choice ECE in NIT Rourkela and next to next higher choice ECE in NIT Warangal. Can he get ECE in NIT Rourkela or ECE in NIT Warangal in 6 th round of JOSAA or 1,2,3 rounds of CSAB. Sir please inform my chances of possibility for selection in NIT Rourkela or NIT Warangal. Sir academic and placement wise NIT Rourkela or NIT Warangal or IIIT Allahabad which one is better? My humble request please guide me sir. Regards.
Ans: With a CRL of 6 812 and 99.56 percentile, securing IIIT Allahabad ECE (closing ~7 438 in Round 3) is assured. In JoSAA Round 3, NIT Rourkela’s ECE opened at 4 532 and closed at 11 824, and NIT Warangal’s ECE closed at 8 315, placing your rank within both ranges for potential allotment in Round 3 or CSAB.

Academically, NIT Warangal (#13 engineering NIRF 2024) offers rigorous core and VLSI labs with a 93% three-year ECE placement consistency. NIT Rourkela (#19 engineering NIRF 2024) provides multidisciplinary research centres and records ~90% ECE placements over three years. IIIT Allahabad, a focused IT-ECE institute, consistently achieves 96–98% placements for ECE with average packages near ?29 LPA and strong AI/ML and communication research centres.

Recommendation: For highest placement consistency and specialized ECE research, opt for IIIT Allahabad ECE. If a broader NIT ecosystem and legacy brand matter more, prioritise NIT Warangal ECE for its comprehensive labs and 93% placements. Choose NIT Rourkela ECE next for its multidisciplinary research exposure and ~90% placement track. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Lic policy jeevan aadhar for handicap son taken 1995 for 20 years. Life assured was my self father. Last premium paid in2015. 2026 son expired who was nominee This policy how our paid money with benefits wd be returned. Please advice. My age 70 and appointee 67 my wife still alive. Thanks.
Ans: I am very sorry to hear about your loss. This is an emotional situation along with a financial question. I will explain this in a simple and clear way so you can take the right steps.

» Understanding your policy structure

You have mentioned:

– Policy taken in 1995
– Premium paying term completed in 2015
– Life assured is yourself (father)
– Nominee/beneficiary was your son (who is now expired)
– You and your wife are alive

This type of policy was meant to support a dependent (your son) after the life assured.

» What happens when nominee (son) expires before claim

In such cases, the policy does not get cancelled.

Since:

– life assured (you) is still alive
– policy has already completed premium payment

The policy continues in force.

But the nominee benefit cannot be paid to your son now.

So the benefit will be payable to legal heirs or as per updated nomination.

» What are your options now

You have two main options.

Option 1 – Continue the policy till maturity or claim event

– policy will pay maturity or death benefit as per terms
– proceeds will go to legal heir / updated nominee
– you can update nomination now (for example, your wife)

Option 2 – Surrender or exit (if allowed)

– you may receive surrender value (if applicable)
– amount may be lower than full benefit
– depends on policy terms and current status

Before taking this step, it is important to check surrender value.

» Important step you must do immediately

Please update the nomination.

Since your son (nominee) has expired:

– submit a nomination change request
– add your wife or legal heir as nominee

Without this, claim settlement may get delayed later.

» How the money will be paid eventually

Depending on policy terms:

– either lump sum amount
– or annuity/pension type benefit

This will now go to the updated nominee or legal heir.

» Documents you should keep ready

– policy document
– your ID proof
– your son’s death certificate
– nominee update form
– bank details

These will be required for any future claim or update.

» Best practical step now

– visit nearest LIC branch
– explain full situation
– check current policy status
– confirm maturity benefit or claim structure
– update nomination immediately

Avoid relying only on assumptions because this policy type has specific conditions.

» Finally

Your policy is still valid because you (life assured) are alive. The benefit will not go to your expired son, but can be redirected to your legal heir after updating nomination.

Immediate action required is nomination update and policy status confirmation with LIC.
