Hello Sir My son got 195 rank(Under ST Category). He wants to persue ECE/EE . Which NIT among Rourkela, Jamshedpur,Durgapur and MNNIT, Allahabad would be besbest for him. We are from WB domicile. Pl suggest

Good Evening Sir. My son secured 6812 Crl alongwith 99.56 percentile and 1st, 2nd, 3rd of JOSAA rounds he getting ECE in IIIT Alahabad. We are awiting for next higher choice ECE in NIT Rourkela and next to next higher choice ECE in NIT Warangal. Can he get ECE in NIT Rourkela or ECE in NIT Warangal in 6 th round of JOSAA or CSAB Rounds of 1,2,3. Sir please inform me chances of possibility for selection in NIT Rourkela or NIT Warangal. Sir academic and placement wise NIT Rourkela or NIT Warangal or IIIT Allahabad which one is better? My humble request please guide me. Take our regards.

Here is the pointwise reply to your question: (1) Chances for ECE at NIT Rourkela/Warangal in Round 6 or CSAB seem very slim (2) IIIT Allahabad, meanwhile, is strong academically, especially in core faculties and placements, but NITs generally have a broader engineering ecosystem and alumni network. (3) Chances of upgrading to NIT Warangal/Rourkela ECE seem to be challenging. Suggesting- IIIT Allahabad (ECE) is a solid, competitive choice. The final decision will be yours.

Regarding the JEE rank and domicile, the following NITs and programs are possible:

- NIT Uttarakhand, Mizoram, and Nagaland: Civil, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering
- NIT Srinagar: Civil and Metallurgy Engineering
- NIT Agartala: Production, Civil, and Chemical Engineering

For IIITs, your son is eligible for newer or PPP-model IIITs in less competitive branches or newer specializations. The possibilities include:

- IIIT Manipur, IIIT Kota, and IIIT Ranchi: ECE
- IIIT Bhagalpur: Mechatronics and Electronics and Communication Engineering
- IIIT Dharwad: Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

My daughter got a rank of 7092 in AEEE 2026, is there a possibility of getting mechanical at coimbatore campus in lower category. I am from Andhra(general category). Also how are placements for mechanical branch for vit and amrita.

Ans: AEEE rank 7092 gives your daughter a realistic chance for Mechanical at Amrita Coimbatore only in a lower/less preferred category or later allotment, but it is not guaranteed; based on recent cutoff trends, the safer expectation is that Mechanical may be possible, while highly preferred branches like CSE/ECE are not. For an Andhra general-category student, the chances are usually a bit tighter than for some home-state/other-category combinations, so keep backup options ready. Ans: With a VITEEE rank of 73777, CSE in VIT Vellore or VIT Chennai is not realistic, and ECE is also very unlikely at Vellore and only a remote possibility at Chennai in higher fee categories. A practical choice is to prioritize ECE/IT/related branches in VIT Bhopal or VIT-AP, or take a better branch in another good college rather than chasing CSE at Vellore/Chennai. Hello Sir, My son secured 99.18344 percentile in JEE Mains 2026 with AIR of 13,177. His HSC board score in 86.5 %. We are from Mumbai, Maharashtra. Can he get admission to a good reputed NIT college in either CSE/AIML/AI&DS? Alternately, if not, he is also ready to go for Electrical Engg or ECE or EEE. Also please advice if it is better to do BTech 4 yrs & then MTech 2 yrs or whether to do an integrated 5 yrs MTech. Which option will carry more value / weight from recruiters point of view?

Ans: Your son has good chances at NITs for ECE/EEE and at some mid-NITS for CSE/AI branches. BTech 4 yrs + optional later 2 years MTech is generally valued more and offers better flexibility than the integrated 5 years MTech. With a JEE score, he has chances in Maharashtra's top colleges like COEP, VJTI, SPIT, and PICT for ECE/EEE and possibly AI/DS in later rounds, but CSE in COEP/VJTI may be difficult in the open category.

Ans: He can get CSE @ VIT AP/Amravati, maybe in cat 2-3, but @ Vellore/Chennai in higher fee cat 4-5
