My grand son got admitted for B tech for mathematics and computing in IIT Patna is it good or switch over to a IIIT go computer science

Ans: Hi

You did not mention which IIIT is under your radar.

If your grandson's primary interest is in core Computer Science (focused more on software development, programming, and engineering), and if he has an option at a top-tier IIIT (like IIIT Hyderabad or IIIT Delhi), he might consider switching, as these IIITs are highly reputed specifically for Computer Science.

However, B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing at IIT Patna is a strong program, especially for students interested in a blend of mathematics, computer science, and data analytics. It offers excellent research opportunities, strong faculty, and a good reputation.

If the choice is between IIT Patna and a lower-tier IIIT, staying with IIT Patna for Mathematics and Computing is likely the better option due to the IIT brand, broader academic exposure, and strong placement opportunities.
