My son scored 91 percentile in JEE, but I'm worried about the April attempt. Can you recommend good colleges in Karnataka for computer science and aeronautical engineering?

My son has got 91 percentile in the recent jee exam , he has next attempt in april, but i feel its difficult for him , can i know about other good colleges in karnataka , as im based their. interested in computer science and aeronautical degree, also advise some recent good courses for his career in india.

Ans: Hello Manoj.
Do not get stressed at this stage. Even though his score is 91 percentile in 1st attempt, he can do well in 2nd attempt. But from the safer side, ask him to appear in the Karnataka State Engineering Entrance Examination also. Even if he scores less in JEE on 2nd attempt, he may good college via the state entrance examination in CSE or aeronautical engineering as per your wish. For your reference, there are 10 colleges in India where you can get admission without a JEE score. There are no such courses to be called as recent. The choice of courses depends upon the interest of your son. Hence there is no need to hurry and get into panic at this stage. Let him appear for both exams first, Ask about his interests, and then choose the course accordingly. I would be happy to suggest you after knowing his scores in JEE+State entrance + his liking.
Till then, ask him to focus only on two engineering entrance exams. Best of luck to your son for upcoming exams.

My son secured 97.48 percentile and 39505 crl rank in jee mains and 87.83 % in class 12th (PUC) in Karnataka, pls suggest some good colleges.

Ans: Madam,

Congrats to your Son for scoring 97.48 percentile in his JEE-Main. Hope he would have appeared in KCET & COMEDK also. You have NOT mentioned in which Branch (CSE, ECE, EEE etc.), your Son is interested in?

Anyway, some of the top-ranked Private Colleges he can target is RV, BMS, MS Ramaiah, Dayanand, PES etc. for the Branches like ECE, EEE, IT etc. Getting admission into CSE (Core) at these colleges will be slightly difficult due to tough competition. Or, if you can afford for, please try for Management Quota (MQ).

Whatever Institute / University & Branch he chooses, he should keep upgrading his skills from his 1st year itself till he goes for Campus Placement in his last year, from NPTEL, Internshala etc. and / or any other online platforms, recommended by his College Faculties, to be COMPETENT among other Students.

Sir, my son has 97.9 percentile with 32k rank jee mains. Please suggest if we have to take IIIT sricity, IIIT kanchipuram IIIT Dharwad, Kottayam or raichur etc...or branches like eee in NIT AP, GOA, PONDICHERRY etc.. We have other to take CSE in Karnataka state level Good colleges through KCET.

Ready your question and noted your doubts for your Son.

1) Choosing the right stream depends upon your Son’s interest.
2) As far as IIITs are concerned, IIIT is best among what you have referred.
3) As far as Rankings of NITs, mentioned by you, NIT-Goa comes first. Then comes Puducherry & AP.
4) Compared to COMNEDK, getting admission into CSE with any top (Tier 1) colleges of Karnataka is difficult. If you can afford, you can try for Management Quota with RV , BMS, PES, MS Ramaiah (or) Dayananad College in Bengaluru.

Steps You Better Follow: 1) Choose the 2-3 stream options for your son 2) Shortlist IIIT Kancheepuram, NIT-Goa and / or 2-3 Top ranked colleges in Bengaluru, if you can decide for MQ 4) Apply to all these Colleges 5) After getting confirmed admissions from these colleges, finalise the best one, keeping in view the location preference, nearby cities (like Bengaluru) where Campus Placements are highest.

Yes, If you wish so, you can take the drop year and appear 12th through NIOS. You will be eligible to appear for JEE (Mains) and JEE (Adv) if qualified in mains.

If i have 12 Lacs salary but i have 1lac equity cap gains would the sec87 rebate of 60k still apply on my 12L income? Or for that matter of fact if my income is 11L but have cap gains of 50k would it mean zero tax?

Ans: 87A rebate is not available for special rate income but if taxable income is upto 12 lacs, rebate will be available to the extent of other income which is not taxable at special rate.

In your case, as taxable income is likely to exceed 12 lacs, accordingly, rebate will not be available.

Ans: I don't know the amount you want to invest.
If the amount is reasonable & you can find suitable Real Estate option, that will be best. Invest in that property, which yields you some returns and is likely to appreciate with the passage of time. It should be readily Salable also, so that the proposal ensures liquidity also.
Other options are Mutual Funds, Equity Shares, NSC, FDR etc. However, Mutual Funds (D-Mat based) may be more suitable in view of returns & easy handling of documents.
