I got 74.2 percent in State board, can I get iit college, as a dropper. Please answer if u r completely awared of top 20 percentile of state board.

Ans: With 74.2% in your state board, you are not eligible for IIT admission unless your marks place you within the top 20 percentile of your board for your category. For 2025, the top 20 percentile cutoff for most state boards is above 75% for the general category (e.g., Maharashtra: 78%, UP: 77%, CBSE: 83.4%), and for some boards, it is even higher, often ranging from 75% to 95% depending on the board and year. If your board’s top 20 percentile cutoff is above 74.2%, you do not meet the eligibility for JEE Advanced and IIT admissions, even as a dropper. However, if your board’s cutoff is 74.2% or lower, you would be eligible, but this is rare for most major boards in recent years.

Recommendation: Unless your board’s official top 20 percentile cutoff for your category is 74.2% or lower, you are not eligible for IIT admission; check your board’s latest cutoff data before planning a drop year for IIT. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!

I got 76% in 12th boards and i belong to general category, i took a drop for JEE 2026 can i get admission in good colleges like IIT, NIT, NSUT!

Ans: You did not mention the JEE 2025 score or percentile. You can get admission to IIT / NIT / NSUT if you fulfill the required cutoff criteria. Since your first attempt was in 2025, you can only appear for JEE (Adv) in 2026. There will be no further opportunity to take JEE (Adv). However, with a strong JEE score, you may secure a seat in NIT/NSUT. (Basically, we do not recommend taking a drop for various reasons. The chances of success are generally low or moderate in most cases.)

My son got in Btech ece group in saveetha deemed eng college how about the placement and faculty can anyone suggest how it is

Ans: ECE at Saveetha has good infrastructure and a flexible learning system, but core ECE placements are average, and faculty quality is mixed. Overall, it is fine if your son focuses on skills, internships, and preparation for higher studies alongside college academics. If no other alternative is available, you can go with Saveetha. Ans: Preference order may be: Production @ NIT Trichy > Mechanical @ NIT Calicut > CSE @ VIT, unless he is strongly focused only, and you are comfortable with the fee structure.

Ans: For better career flexibility and placements, Electrical @ Tier-2 NIT is generally a better choice than lower IIT core branches unless you strongly prefer the IIT tag or plan for non-core/government exams. The final decision will be yours.

Ans: Chances with top colleges are almost nil. Try with newer or lower-tier colleges during later rounds. But you keep an alternative option ready as a backup. More practical advice is to choose a decent private college with the preferred branch and take admission via the management quota if finance is not the main concern.

I got 85 marks in COMEDK. What all colleges can I get with that, considering I want to pursue ece vlsi or ece or aerospace only. Also, I'm from Chandigarh, so I don't have HS quota. Additionally I'm getting metallurgy and civil at PEC, Electronics at Thapar (but it's too costly) and ece at CCET, sector 26 Chandigarh. Which of these, and the clgs I can get via COMEDK, are the best options considering my main focus is chip designing for military missiles and air crafts and I want to prepare for GATE and go for Mtech so placements aren't a big deal for me. My main concern is that the teaching quality and labs should be good and help me in case I also want to get a PhD in future... I'd be really grateful if you could rank them please...

Ans: Try ECE at BMSIT, NMIT, or CMRIT, or aerospace at DSCE/SJCE. Among your current choices, PEC-Punjab Engineering College (Metallurgy/Civil) has the strongest long-term academic brand, but for your VLSI/chip-design + GATE/PhD goal, prefer Thapar if fees are manageable; otherwise, Chandigarh College of Engineering and Technology (ECE) is the most practical choice.

Ans: For a female candidate focused on overall career prospects, coding culture, placements, and brand value, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women CSE is generally preferred over M. S. Ramaiah Institute of Technology CSE. But if you are inclined towards MSRIT, it is also an excellent choice. Practical advice: Choose the one that is nearer to your hometown to reduce upcoming expenses.
