Good evening sir. Sir, my son has secured 98.363848 in JEE mains and appeared JEE advanced also. His CRL is 26253 and category ( OBC NCL) rank is 6625. If he got CSE in NIT Silchar (home quota) and CSE or mathematics and computing branch in tier 2 IIT, which will be the best?

Ans: While CSE at NIT Silchar (home quota) offers excellent placements, strong recruiter presence, and good campus facilities, a seat in CSE or Mathematics & Computing at a tier 2 IIT is generally the superior choice. Even newer IITs provide a stronger national and international brand, more diverse peer groups, better research exposure, and a powerful alumni network. Mathematics & Computing at IITs is highly valued, with a curriculum closely aligned to CSE and strong placement outcomes. The IIT tag also opens doors for global opportunities and higher studies. NIT Silchar CSE is a solid backup, especially if your son prefers proximity to home or is more comfortable there, but in terms of long-term academic and career prospects, choosing CSE or Mathematics & Computing at a tier 2 IIT is highly recommended. The IIT experience, brand value, and future opportunities outweigh the advantages of NIT Silchar, making it the better option for a bright and ambitious student. All the best for your son's admission and a bright future!
