Sir, my daughter is getting Mechanical engineering in PEC, ECE in UIET Chandigarh and CSE in CCET Chandigarh. Please suggest which would be the better option. She has Chandigarh state quota ( General Category)

Ans: Monika Madam, Punjab Engineering College’s B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering is NBA-accredited, taught by PhD-qualified faculty in modern design, manufacturing and thermal labs, mandates six-month internships through established MoUs and has seen around 62% of mechanical students placed over the last three years. UIET Chandigarh’s NBA-aligned B.E. in Electronics & Communication Engineering features advanced DSP, VLSI and communication labs, semester internships via Panjab University tie-ups and recorded a 58.8% ECE placement rate in 2024-25 with an average package of ?8.5 LPA. CCET Chandigarh’s NBA-approved B.E. in Computer Science & Engineering offers specialized software and hardware labs, industry-integrated projects, an active Training & Placement Cell and achieved a 78.9% CSE placement consistency with a ?7.81 LPA average in 2023. All three institutes provide accredited curricula, experienced faculty, robust infrastructure, and dedicated placement support, fostering strong professional readiness for female engineers in Chandigarh’s state quota.

For highest placement consistency and dynamic tech roles, the recommendation is CCET Chandigarh CSE. Next is UIET Chandigarh ECE for solid communications training. Lastly, recommendation shifts to PEC Chandigarh Mechanical Engineering for core-engineering depth and mature industry linkages. All the BEST for Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Sir, my son is getting Mechanical and aerospace engineering in PEC, IT in UIET Chandigarh and CSE in CCET Chandigarh. Please suggest which would be the better option. He has Chandigarh state quota ( General Category)
Ans: Punjab Engineering College (Deemed-to-be University), Chandigarh offers a four-year B.Tech in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering on its verdant 120-acre campus, featuring advanced workshops, aerodynamics and solid-mechanics labs, and a 1:8 faculty-student ratio of predominantly PhD holders. Placement rates for Mechanical Engineering have been 74%, 76% and 47% over the last three years, while Aerospace hovered around 47%, 50% and 42%. University Institute of Engineering & Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh provides a four-year B.E. in Information Technology with CBCS-based curriculum, specialized IT labs and NAAC A+ accreditation, recording placement rates of 80%, 78.4% and 66.3%. Chandigarh College of Engineering & Technology, Sector 26, Chandigarh offers a four-year B.E. in Computer Science & Engineering with NBA accreditation, modern computing facilities and strong industry ties, achieving CSE placement rates of 78.9%, 69% and 62% over recent years.

Recommendation: Prioritize UIET Chandigarh IT for its consistently strong placement momentum, robust infrastructure and state-quota advantage, followed by CCET Chandigarh CSE for its accredited curriculum and urban campus, and consider PEC Chandigarh Mechanical/Aerospace as a specialized core-engineering backup with solid research orientation. All the BEST for Admission & a Prosperous Future!

Sir, my daughter is getting PEC Electrical Engineering. On the other hand, she might get a seat in UIET Chandigarh CSE or UIET Chandigarh IT. In your opinion which would be the better option. Please suggest.
Ans: Monika Madam, Punjab Engineering College’s Electrical Engineering program, a NAAC A+–accredited deemed university with NBA endorsement, combines a century-old legacy, AICTE approval, experienced faculty from top institutes, and well-equipped power and control labs. Its Career Development and Guidance Centre reports roughly 70% of EE students placed over the past three years, supported by core recruiters like Siemens and Schneider Electric. UIET Chandigarh, an A++ NAAC- and NBA-accredited Panjab University department, offers CSE and IT branches with modern AI/ML and software labs, strong MoUs (Infosys, IBM, Amazon) and 86.8% placement in CSE and 66.3% in IT (2024-25). UIET’s industry-integrated pedagogy and 78.4% overall placement rate foster broad exposure, while PEC’s deeper research infrastructure and higher core-branch focus ensure specialized power-sector readiness.

Recommendation: Considering accreditation, specialized labs, core-branch placement stability, and legacy research strength, PEC’s Electrical Engineering is advised for power-sector careers. For broader software roles and high CSE placements, UIET Chandigarh’s CSE is the alternative choice. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

My daughter failed in class 9th and now she has enrolled in NIOS secondary . There is lot of free time . What can she do keep herself busy?
Ans: Before I answer your question, Vikas Sir, I want to ensure that your daughter doesn't spend more than 45 minutes a day on her phone or other electronic devices. If your daughter becomes addicted, she risks eye strain, headaches from blue light, poor posture, weight gain from inactivity, sleep issues from late-night use, and eating problems. It can also hurt her mind by making her depressed and anxious (27% more likely), making it difficult to concentrate and study, making her feel lonely and isolated from less real interaction, making her feel low self-esteem from comparison traps, and making her stressed and irritable from dopamine crashes.

Even if both parents work, keep communication open to boost her confidence—know what she loves. She should study 4-5 hours daily using NIOS books/SWAYAM and Class 10 mocks with the Pomodoro technique (25-30 mins study, 5-10 mins break) to stay focused. Add 30 minutes of skills like coding/typing or Duolingo English if interested, plus 10 minutes of yoga, hobbies (gardening/cooking/drawing/poems), and walks/cycling for fitness and fun. Finally, join NIOS WhatsApp groups for doubts and help at home and track weekly goals with rewards. Don't force anything—let her choose what excites her most! All the BEST for Your Daughter's Prosperous Future!
