Hi my son is in class 12 & preparing for JEE. What are the chances for marine engineering and how to proceed? Is there any separate exam for Marine engineering or selection will be through JEE?

Ans: Hello Sanjay Ji,
there are very few iits & nits who offer marine engineering. Alternatively Your son can appear for IMU CET and get admission to Indian Maritime University, Chennai which is also good.

Hello sir My son is in 12th class this year and preparing for JEE exam. Kindly suggest in addition to JEE any other entrance exam for engineering
Ans: Virendra Sir. I hope your son has joined Coaching Center for his JEE. As you prefer to have back-ups apart from JEE (NITs, IITS, GFTI & IIITs), here are some other suggested Entrance Exams along with JEE: (1) State Entrance Exams and / or Top-3 Private Colleges' Entrance Exams in your / nearby States (2) If you prefer to apply in South also, COMEDK (of Karnataka) is another better option as it is open to Students all over India. (3) IAT Exam for admission into IISER if your daughter is interested in Research (4) PESSAT (of PES University) in Bengaluru (4) CUET for Central Universities all over India. It is advisable for her to appear in, minimum 5-Entrance Exams. This will enable your daughter to have a lot of options to choose the best & most suitable College along with the Stream she prefers. Give importance to Location of the College Also. And, please AVOID forcing her to join the College / Stream which you prefer. All The BEST for your Daughter's Bright Future, Sir. hii, i m Graduate Mechanical engineer in 2022 passed out. currently i m working in software company but i m not happy in this job or i love to work with machines. i recently got to know about marine engineering field and i m pretty excited about it. but i dont know what are the future scopes and risks asociated with this job. i want to earn more in less time and this field surely will fullfill my dreams. but i want to know about how much competation is in this field? i want to know that is it really hard to get a job in this field? challanges are everywhere in every field. but question is to face those challenges how much we got paid. i m pretty excited to know about marine engineering field please guide me. what are current job situtation in marine field? should i start preparing to change my career to marine engineering. or should i continue in software field where i m currently working?
Ans: You have asked many questions. I am trying to answer those. To become a Marine Engineer, you can do master's degree from IITs. Madras IIT is the best option in India. For that you have to give GATE. As a marine engineer, one of the primary career paths is working in the Merchant Navy, where you’ll be responsible for the operation and maintenance of ship machinery. But it is not white color job like software engineering, and you have to be physically and mentally strong. Marine engineers in the Merchant Navy can earn a substantial salary, particularly at senior levels (e.g., Chief Engineer). However, entry-level positions might start lower, with significant increments as you gain experience. The job market in marine engineering can be volatile, influenced by global trade, oil prices, and geopolitical events.
