Ans: Choose, based on your interest instead of NIRF Ranking of both. Whatever Institute / University / Branch / Domain you choose, keep upgrading your skills from 1st year itself till your Campus Placement during your last year, from LinkedIn, NPTEL, Coursera, Internshala etc. and / or any other online platforms, recommended by your College Faculties, to be COMPETENT among other Students, for jobs.

Therefore, please consider applying to the following NITs: NIT Agartala, NIT Nagaland, NIT Mizoram, or NIT Meghalaya.

Chemical Engineering: Possible in mid-to-late rounds or spot rounds.
Mechanical Engineering: Difficult, but a possibility in the final spot rounds.
Civil/Environmental/Biotech/Production: Good chances here.
Electrical Engineering: Extremely low chance with a 90k rank.
So, as i told you in an earlier response, focus on filling all preferences and participating in all rounds to achieve your goal.

Securing a core branch at DTU is challenging but achievable, especially in lower-tier branches. Your chances of getting into lower core branches such as Civil, Environmental, and Biotech are low, but there may be an advantage in lower-tier branches. The chances for higher core branches are quite low. Therefore, it is essential to fill out all preferences, including lower-tier branches, during the JAC Delhi Counselling.

You have a strong possibility of securing a seat in several NITs, especially through the JoSAA rounds.

Possibility in Top NITs: You have a high chance of getting core branches (Mechanical, Civil, Chemical, Electrical) in top-tier NITs, such as NIT Rourkela, NIT Warangal, or NIT Surathkal, depending on your domicile quota.

CSE: While securing a seat in CSE at top-tier NITs is competitive, you have a solid chance of admission to CSE at newer or lower-tier NITs. For your JoSAA choices, consider focusing on the following:
Mid-Tier NITs: NIT Raipur, Patna, Silchar, and Jamshedpur.
Newer/Lower Tier NITs: NIT Meghalaya, Agartala, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Manipur.

If you belong to a state where an NIT is located, your chances of getting a better branch, including Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) or Information Technology (IT), increase significantly.

Do participate in the counselling process actively to achieve your goal.

Based on your son's rank and domicile, he has a good chance of securing a seat in several NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, particularly through the JoSAA/CSAB counseling rounds. However, it will require some patience.

He is likely to secure a seat in Chemical, Biotech, Metallurgical, or Civil Engineering at NIT Andhra Pradesh. Admission to Electrical or Mechanical Engineering may be a bit more challenging, but it could still be possible in the later rounds, depending on the availability of seats at the time of counseling.

For other NITs, there are promising opportunities in lower-tier or newer NITs. He has a good chance at NIT Srinagar, Mizoram, Nagaland, Manipur, Sikkim, and Arunachal Pradesh for ECE, EEE, Mechanical, and Civil Engineering. In NIT Raipur, NIT Hamirpur, and NIT Goa, he may find opportunities for Civil or Materials Engineering in the later rounds.

Regarding IIITs, many new IIITs have higher closing ranks, which makes them more accessible to your son's rank. Possible IIITs include Manipur, Bhagalpur, Dharwad, and Agartala. In Kalyani, CSE and ECE options might also be available.

A better option for your son would be GFTIs, where he can secure a seat in institutions such as Silchar, SLIET, and GKV (Haridwar).

Encourage him to participate actively in the counseling process until he achieves his goal.
