Hi Sir My son is appearing in CBSE 12th class this session and has cleared JEE mains with 99 percentiles. He is keen to pursue the career in research in Astro Physics. Can you please guide as to what course should he undertake, the institutes (both Indian and Foreign) and the admission process. Also if you could guide about the scope in this field.

Your son has an excellent percentile in JEE Mains, and his interest in Astrophysics is great for a research-oriented career.
There can be two ways either with B.Tech or B.S Course.
B.Tech in Engineering Physics / Electrical / Mechanical / Computer Science
Followed by an M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Astrophysics
Recommended if he also has an interest in technology, instrumentation, or computational astrophysics.

B.Sc. in Physics / Astrophysics
Followed by M.Sc. Physics / Astrophysics
Ph.D. in Astrophysics
Recommended if he is deeply interested in theoretical physics and cosmology.

IISc Bangalore – BS (Research) in Physics, followed by M.Sc./Ph.D.
IITs (IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi) – B.Tech in Engineering Physics / Physics
IISERs (Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research) – 5-year Integrated BS-MS in Physics

For astrophysics, please visit the websites of the Indian Institute of Astrophysics (IIA) or the Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) for more details. To excel more, try to explore more about the following examinations: (1) National Standard Examination in Astronomy (NSEA) (2) Indian National Astronomy Olympiad (INAO) (3) International Olympiad in Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) (4) National Astronomy & Science Olympiad (NASO). These exams are related to space science. Astrophysics is also related to space. Hence both are mutually associated. The IITs provide opportunities to study and research astronomy and astrophysics, they are not specifically dedicated to these fields.

My son has stepped into +2 in Narayana PU College in Bangalore, he is interested in Astronomy and studying hard for JEE Mains. His target is IIT for astrophysics. 1. Can you suggest me which IIT is better for Astrophysics. 2. Alternative Course or College without JEE Marks for Astrophysics.

Ans: Velavan Sir, to get admission into Engineering Physics in any one of the top 4-5 IITs, your son should score below AIR-4500 in JEE Advanced though the Closing Rank for Engineering Physics for other IITs is around AIR-17-18000. After completing his UG in Physics or Engineering Physics, he can try for his PG/PhD in Astrophysics with Indian Institute of Astrophyics, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) & Raman Research Institute. Abroad universities offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Astrophysics with entrance exams like SAT, bypassing JEE.

Ans: If you are selling the flat that has been owned for more than 24 months, you can claim exemptions under Sec 54, 54F 54 EC. etc based on type of asset.

I got 92.34 percentile in jee, im a neet aspirant.. idk much about jee,is this a good percentile? Ive seen some institutes putting ads of people who got 90+percentile so i thought this was a good percentile,, but i see many people r disappointed with getting96 and 97 percentile??, in case if i fail to clear neet i wish to pursue btech, what can i expect with this percentile,?ik nits and iits wont be possible,, so ive decided to appear for second phase,, and also decided to write state exam for admission to state eng colleges,, can i get admission into reputed pvt eng colleges?

Ans: A 92.34 percentile in JEE Main is a decent score for a NEET aspirant, but it depends on the desired career path. A 92+ percentile can still secure admission to a good private engineering college and some GFTIs. However, IITs and NITs are not possible at this percentile. Top IIITs may have a chance in later rounds or lower-demand branches. GFTIs may offer seats in less competitive branches. Private engineering colleges can also be considered. To improve options, try a second JEE attempt, write state engineering entrance exams, and consider private colleges through direct admission.
