I have an income of 13 lakhs. I have home loans and 1.5 lakhs 80C investments. Additionally I have NPS investment of 50000 as well. Should I continue with Old regime or move to new regime? I feel new regime does not benefit me at all.

Ans: For your level of deductions, the new regime will be better due to the lower tax slabs/rates.

Would depend on the quantum of income, tax saving investment made by you. It would be difficult to state the best option without comparison of numbers. With the availability of standard deduction (for salary), definitely new tax regime may become attractive.

Hello Mahesh, for a person with a salary of more than 30 lakhs and just 80C investment and NPS investment ( Personal + Corporate ), is new regime better or the old one ?

Ans: Hi,
Corporate NPS u/s 80CCD(2) will be relevant in checking the efficacy of options. If we consider that Corporate NPS is outside the Rs. 30 Lakhs and assuming that 80C deduction is Rs. 1.50 Lakhs then the new tax regime is best for you.

Ans: For a Pensioner not availing any tax benefits (Deduction of housing loan repayment, Life insurance premium, Mediclaim, Tax saver mutual fund etc), new tax regime will be beneficial and standard deduction is available under both regime for pensioner.

Salary is Rs 28,50,000. Investments would be : Contribution to 80C - Rs 1.5L, NPS-50K, HR Paid - 5.7L per year, 80D Medical : Insurance Premium for self and spouse : Rs 19108 and for parents : Rs 50K. Which regime should be better to select : Old or New?

Ans: In the absence of salary structure, it is not possible to claim HRA exemption. You can calculate the same at https://incometaxindia.gov.in/Pages/tools/house-rent-allowance-calculator.aspx

Considering income and quantum of deductions, old regime is likely to be beneficial and after calculation of HRA exemption, you can check the same at https://eportal.incometax.gov.in/iec/foservices/#/TaxCalc/calculator

Ans: Difficult to predict the future. If tourism picks up then there is a chance for the hotel management industry to do well. But can simultaneously upskill your self by doing different courses that would help you in your future career.

Hello Career Gurus, I have a PGDBM which is pretty dated back to the year 2006. I find that the entire canvas has changed with the digital revolution making me somewhat out of place. Although, i managed to traverse successfully career-wise and secured management role but sometimes I face self-doubt whether I would be able ro sustain myself in this back-biting and nasty politics driven corporate world. I have jettisoned plans several times to go fof masters into enterpreneural management or data analytics. I am worried about the next step. Should I take a sabbatical considering that I have the usual middle-class constraints spelled out as obligation to family esp. ageing parents with my better-half playing stalemate on her commitment towards helping me and financial liabilities as well. What should I do ? Please suggest. Thank you !

Ans: You can always do part time courses along with your job and then scout for relevant jobs. A lot of certificate courses are available. Even top B schools do conduct short term management courses which is another option to look out for. Leaving your job is definitely not recommended. About taking sabbatical, it will depend on how will it affect your promotion in your company.

Hi My son from few days has abdomen pain and vomiting tendency. He don't eat due to the above problem due to which he has become very lean and thin. He has lost considerable amount of weight. We have consulted a physician and he has asked us to carry out SGPT test. The outcome of which is high and so we are very concerned about his health.His age is only 12 years. What should we do in this case?

Ans: You need to consult a pediatrician or Pediatric gastroenterologist. SGPT being high means the liver is inflamed which could be due to an infection like hepatitis or some metabolic issue.
