My child spends too much time on the mobile and he doesn't read many books.He is very bright,but how do I get him to read more.

Ans: It depends on his age. If he is younger than 5 then no mobile time at all. If between 5&10 you need to negotiate a maximum mobile time of 1/2 hour or less. Older than 10 , 1 hour. Join a library and help him choose books and start reading to him . Then gradually make him read. Bedtime reading is a good habit. Basically it is up to you. You need to be firm.

My 5yrs. Old child is very less talking with other, he knows but not talking express to other by help of sign. Doctors says it's due to mobile/screen long duration effect. Actually he is a little active every time. What is the way to increase his talking duration with other his speach therapy is going on from last 5 months.

Ans: I hope you have done his hearing evaluation and it is normal
Read books to him and encourage him to repeat what you have said. Donot complete sentences for him or verbalize his gestures. Yes, no mobile or tablet watching time at all

Hi Ma'm I have a son studying in Class 9th except school he was not interest in books he alway want to play that too max time on Mobiles. We are trying to avoid him with mobile. if mobile is not available he is busy with TV, if any scold on him he will leave home and go for play with his friends at ground but he is not showing any interest on studying. can you suggest how to handle this situation Hari Krishna Visakhapatnam (AP)

Ans: When you want him to Stop using mobile or screen,try to first give him equally reinforcing activities or situations where he is more engaged productively. It should not be necessarily academic related things initially. He can take care of daily household chores or some responsibilities which are helping him to be engaged. Appreciate his efforts incase you see him doing that. Some time we need to change our ways of dealing with situation to get them do what you want. You can take him with you for buying things like grocery , in short you can involve him in daily activities ,games etc.
Increase his focus on activities etc and then gradually set his academic goals clear.

Aruna, my son hates studying. He is 6 and likes to talk or answer questions orally but doesn't like to write or sit down for studies. I have tried talking to him and he simply says he doesn't like to write. He prefers to draw, colour or paint, but not writing. His notebooks are always incomplete. Can you suggest some simple tips how I can help him get interested in writing and studies?

Ans: Sentence starters where he can finish his sentences.
2. Graphic organisers which is a fun way to attempt work.
3. Word bank on the topic to support his writing
4. Short dedicated time for work with 5-10 minutes break after 20 minutes can help motivate your child to write.
After this has been achieved, keeping an alarm to complete his work for 20 minutes can be set.

Hello Aruna ji, my child is 2 years and 6 months old. we feel gradually he is being attracted by mobile screen. how to control it. what is maximum time to give him screen time including tv?

Ans: You can involve the child in alternative activities and keep him engaged. There can be various sensory Activities like sand Play, water play etc. which will be equally or more reinforcing and this will help you to reduce the screen time.You should avoid giving screen time and it should not be more than 15 to 20 min in a day.

Sir my daughter scored 73.8 in 10+2 but maths percentile is very low @ 46. She wish to appear in BITSAT. Can she be eligible if she improves her score in improvement exam to be held in July by CBSE?

Ans: Eligibility for BITS Pilani Admission:
Minimum Requirement: Candidates should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (for engineering courses) and secured at least 75% aggregate marks in these three subjects or be among the top 20 percentile in their respective board exams.

BITS also requires minimum 60% marks in each of these subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics).
Yes! If she improves her aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics to 75% or above, she will meet the minimum eligibility criteria for BITSAT.
But my suggestion is to avoid engineering, because almost all streams in engineering require B.Sc. level math.
