Sir, Please give comparison between IT slab of Rs. 3 laks now common for General Citizens Vs Senior Citizens of 60+ years.

Ans: Kindly note the following difference :
01. IT Slab of Rs.3.00 lakhs for Senior Citizens is under OLD Tax Regime.
02. IT Slab of Rs.3.00 lakhs for General Citizens is under NEW Tax Regime.
Please note that under new regime, basic exemption limit of Rs.3.00 lakhs is for all Resident Individuals, irrespective of age.

Any Standard deduction available for Senior Citizen of 60+ under new or old IT system.

Ans: 01. There is no Standard Deduction, specifically for Senior Citizens.
02. In case of Salary Income it is Rs.75,000.00, under new regime & Rs.50,000.00 under old regime. Please note that it is for all assesses (may be Senior Citizen or otherwise below 60 years of age).

The basic IT exemption has been raised from Rs.2.5 Lakhs to Rs. 3 Lakhs. Is it applicable for Senior Citizen also uniformly or is it Rs. 3.5 Laks for them? Arun, Trichy

Ans: In finance act 2023, minimum exemption limit is raised to 3 lakhs for all taxpayers (including Senior citizen) opting for new tax regime.

My daughter has 70064 rankon jee mains in general category,does she get iiit with this rank in cse?

Ans: No, CSE is not possible. She can hope for lower branches at IIITs such as Bhagalpur, Kalyani, Kottayam, or similar lower-ranked IIITs through CSAB if seats remain vacant. It is better to explore other options as a backup.

Hello Sir, Our son is eligible for BTECH in IIT Madras AI and data analytics, IIT kanpur cse and electricals in all IITs based on last year jee advanced josaa. Which is the best option for future growth. He is interested to opt from any of these.

Ans: Preference order: AI + DS @ IIT Madras > CSE @ IIT Kanpur > Electrical @ IIT Kanpur. Yet, the basic interest of the candidate plays a more significant role in choosing the branch and institute. The final decision will be yours and your son's.

Sir, What shall be chosen B Tech CSE with DS at SRM KTR or Btech IT at JIIT Noida

Ans: Both are good options. SRM is more crowded and costly than JIIT. Choose SRM for maximum placement potential and JIIT for value and location preference. As an aside, prefer CSE+DS @ SRM KTR if possible.

I got 2300 OBC RANK IN JEE B ARCH.BUT MY 12 PERCENTAGE IS 73.5.CAN I APPLY FOR JOSAA OR WAIT FOR MY IMPROVME NT RESULT THEN APPLY FOR CSAP. One more answer whether the result of improvement come before CSAP counselling ,

Ans: You can apply for JoSAA now, but for CSAB, you should wait for improvement results if they can raise your 75% eligibility, because CSAB eligibility requires meeting criteria. Improvement results usually come before CSAB rounds, but timing is not guaranteed, so plan cautiously. It is better to explore other options from a safer point of view.

Ans: The preference order may be: VIT Vellore > Jaypee > SRM > Thapar. Recommending to go with IT @ Jaypee (best location advantage for Delhi + decent coding placements)
