R/Sir, I have creatinine level of 1.3,Blood Urea 30.70,Sodium 138, Potassium 4.9, Chloride 103, and Kidney size and functioning is ok, Prostate is Ok, BP in range, No Sugar, and done all the body tests and they are in range, then why My creatinine level is on higher side, How to reduce the same. Pls. Advice.

Ans: Hello. It would be best to visit a nephrologist at least once a year. Once the kidney function has been affected by either long standing diabetes or a recurrent UTI or some other issue, there are other factors like Hb, potassium, protein levels that need to be managed also other than just creatinine level. Urine flow may not get affected till very late. First of all, you must rule out any structural abnormalities in the urinary tract. You should get a USG KUB and see a urologist. Then if everything is normal with your prostate and urinary tract, you should see the nephrologist. In general, to prevent further kidney damage you should keep your BP under control, avoid taking any pain killer type medicines, avoid antibiotics without proper prescriptions, avoid fad diets and excessive salt. Ans: Please get comprehensive KFT with eGFR done.
It will be important to understand the cause of sudden rise in creatinine levels. Diabetes and other conditions also need to be ruled out.

Once these are available, consult a physician or nephrologist.

Ans: Creatinine 1.6 essentially mean there is either some muscle loss or excess protein intake or long term kidney damage.
Please get full kidney function tests done. Get the eGFR estimated.
Then consult a physician for next step.

A Creatinine value of more than 1.1 in anyone should raise alert and any value of more than 1.4 is need for immediate detailed work up by the doctor. Considering you have clinical condition of increased frequency of urination, it definitely need more medical attention.

Ans: As I have responded as part of other queries, normally, creatinine is in the range of 0.7 to 1.4 in healthy individuals with some increase over period of time/age. Your creatinine parameters are going beyound that range. Since I dont know your age, it is not possible for me to estimate your GFR. However, that value itself is an indicator your kidney functions are compromised.

It would be useful if you get Urine Albumin Creatinine Ratio (UACR) done and which will provide additional information about albuminuria etc.

Effective control of blood pressure would ensure that you can halt deterioration in kidney function. One consultation with Nephrologist will be useful.
