Here are my HbA1c report dated 17 March 2024. HbA1c observed value is 7.5. Average Blood Glucose(A.B.G) 169. For blood pressure I take AMLIP 5MG one tablet& for sugar I am advised GLYCOMET 500MG twice a day by my physician. My left foot swells two or three times a day. It doesn't pain but I'm worried as when it swells I find difficulty in walking. After 10-15 minutes the swelling receeds and foot become alright. Please guide.

I am 54 years M ,having Diabetes and High BP (HTN) since the past 13 years. At times it has been in poor control also like in May 2021 the HbA1c was 10.10 which gradually went down to 7.70 and then remained constant between 7.90 and 8.10 with the medications and 'not so strict' diet regime. Plus the body weight was also increasing and i gained around 10 kgs (101.2 Kgs) in a span of around 06 months. Recently in March 2024, the test reports indicated it as 8.70 causing me some concern and in April 2024 the reports showed a value of 9.20, which made me think about the reliablity of Lab report as well as made me change the doctor. My medicines were changed from Glimepiride (2 mg),Metformin (500 mg) Pioglitazone (15 mg) and METFORMIN-500MG + VILDAGLIPTIN-50MG twice daily ( taking for about 20 months) to GLIMEPIRIDE-2MG + METFORMIN-500MG + VOGLIBOSE-0.2MG and Dapagliflozin 5 mg+Metformin 500 mg twice daily recently in Mid April 2024. I was asked by the doctor to report after a month with Fasting and PP readings. However after few days,I started realising that my blood sugar was approaching higher and then I experienced needle like sensations in feet and hands plus sticky urine with a heavy head and hot face. I again went for a checkup three days back and the randomn sugar was 291 mg/dl. The medications have again been changed to Dapagliflozin (10mg) + Metformin (500mg) + Sitagliptin (100mg) + Saroglitazar (4mg) in the morning and METFORMIN-500MG + VILDAGLIPTIN-50MG since yesterday (08.05.2024) and I have been asked to take daily readings and report after 10 days. All this has lead to a panicky feeling in me, resulting in increased HTN. I am worried that how this hit and trial or permutations and combinations will help me in achieving a perfect set of medicines to lower my blood sugar to normal levels. Kindly advice. I shall be highly obliged.

Ans: Medicines alone cannot work in these Lifestyle diseases.
Lifestyle modification plays a vital role
So start with your dietary discipline. Strict no to Sugars and refined carbohydrates.
Have less portion of Carbohydrate in a complex form
Timely meals with early dinner before 7 pm

Hi, I am aged 59 years and weigh 69 kgs..I walk regularly, do pranayama, and follow a strict diet..my hba1c last month was 6..I was shocked..usually my fasting.sugar is below 100 and. Pp after meals is between 120 to 130. My cholesterol was 120 last month..All tests are normal along with my bp My father family has a history.of diabetics. I m worried..i m taking all steps to beat this but still my hba1c is worrying me..kindly advice

Ans: Please do not get worried with the markers done once. This can be repeated after three months, of following lifestyle modification such as eating dinner early by 6 pm and adequate Physical activity from another NABL certified lab and rechecked

Hello Mam ! I am 40 years old . Type 2 Diabetec and Hypertensive since 3 Yrs . My HBA1C has been below 6.5 all throughout years while I have been taking Metformin 500 mg BD and Telmisartan 40 md OD . Last Month all of sudden I had started experience very uncomfortable throughout day with frequent itching all across my body . Post undergoing all diagnostic Tests my HBA1C came out 13.6 After consulting Physician I am prescribed Sitagliptin plus metformin 500 in Morning and Metformin 1 Gm in Night before meals . Still not very comfortable. Please guide what should I be doing to keep my diabetes under control ?

Dietary changes to focus on include reducing your intake of refined carbohydrates and sugars. Opt for whole grains, vegetables, and legumes. Include plenty of fiber-rich foods like vegetables, fruits, and whole grains to help control blood sugar levels. Incorporate healthy fats from sources like avocados, nuts, and olive oil and avoid sugary foods. Aim for regular exercises with strength training and stay well hydrated. Sleep well and be positive.

Ans: Ashish Sir, With an OBC-CL home-state rank of 24 000, admission into core branches at Rajasthan’s MNIT Jaipur and IIIT Kota via CSAB-Special is feasible for certain programmes, while seats at other NITs/IIITs will likely remain out of reach.

At MNIT Jaipur, the Home-State OBC-NCL closing rank for Computer Science & Engineering extended to about 49 000 in CSAB-Special Round 2, making CSE admission virtually assured with your daughter’s rank. However, ECE seats under HS-OBC-NCL closed near 3 400, and AI/Data Science around 6 800, both well below 24 000, so these branches are not attainable at MNIT Jaipur.

IIIT Kota, as a Rajasthan campus, offers Home-State HS-OBC-NCL seats in CSE closing near 67 000, Artificial Intelligence & Data Engineering near 10 500, and ECE close around 12 600, all of which comfortably cover an OBC-NCL rank of 24 000, making these programmes strong targets in CSAB-Special.

Beyond these, other NITs in non-home-state quotas (e.g., NIT Calicut, NIT Uttarakhand) and peripheral IIITs may fill seats well below 24 000 under OS-OBC-NCL quotas, but they will not benefit from Home-State priority. Government-Funded Technical Institutes like PEC Chandigarh and MIET Jhansi admit CSE/ECE under OBC-NCL up to ranks of 40 000–70 000, offering additional assured pathways. GL Bajaj Delhi, as a private institution, participates in state or university counselling (e.g., JAC Delhi), not CSAB, and hence is not an option in this process.

Recommendation
Prioritise Computer Science & Engineering at MNIT Jaipur under HS-OBC-NCL for its assured cutoff. Simultaneously apply to IIIT Kota’s CSE and AI/DE programmes under HS-OBC-NCL for guaranteed admission. As backups within CSAB, list IIIT Kota ECE and GFTIs like PEC Chandigarh for core-branch seats under OBC-NCL quotas. However, have some Private Engineering Colleges as back-ups with son's JEE Score instead of relying only on CSAB. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Which should we choose for CSE - JSS university Noida or JSS Academy of Technical Education Noida ? It is heard that management is migrating to University set-up from the old college set-up affiliated with AKTU . So they are giving more importance to JSS university . Which one should we choose for our daughter for CSE ?

Prefer CSE @ JSS Academy if possible. But if you are at the stage of finalizing the admission, it is highly recommended to visit both campuses, talk with the existing students, and ask the management or administrative authorities clearly about what you heard regarding migration and other issues. It is better to have a face-to-face conversation for more clarity. It is not possible for anyone to know the hidden decisions that the universities or institutes may take.

I got a preparatory rank 2164 in jee advance 2025 and 67 percentile, 34,240 sc category rank in jee mains 2025 in josaa counselling out of 6 rounds i didn't get any seat now what should i do? Will i get a seat in nit, iiit or gfti's atleast?

Your chances in NIT/IIIT/GFTI are slim through JoSAA, but you should try CSAB special rounds or state counseling for a seat.

Hi sir! I have got 73.39 percentile in jee mains and 88.89 percentile in mht cet exam. I have taken a drop for preparation of mht cet examination as I wanted to go in COEP tech branch. My question is that am I still eligible for jee mains 2026 examination as I have got 68 percent in boards.

Ans: Hello dear.
Yes, you are still eligible for JEE Mains 2026 because the eligibility criteria allow candidates to appear for JEE three consecutive years after passing Class 12, regardless of previous attempts. However, for admission to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs, you need at least 75% in boards (65% for SC/ST). Since you have 68%, you won’t be eligible for these top institutes through JEE Main unless you improve your board marks via improvement exams, but private colleges or state counseling options will still be available.

Suggestion:
Better to take admission to any preferred private college with a choice of branch to save time, money, and an extra year. There is no guarantee of success after taking a drop. Taking a drop can create stress and headaches. The final decision will be yours.

Prefer CS @ SPIT if possible. However, considering the brand name, BITS Hyderabad has more advantage because it is a dual degree. If your interest is focused on research, then go with BITS; otherwise, choose SPIT. The final decision will be yours.
