What is better, an MD in non-clinical subjects or taking a drop for another year to prepare for the NEET PG in the hopes of getting a clinical seat? This is my 2nd time attempting the NEET PG.

Ans: It can be a little confusing to choose between clinical and non-clinical branches, but the choice needs to be based on personal preferences. Firstly, you need to consider the level of patient interactions you are willing to have in your career. Secondly, consider the fact that clinical branches often lead to long working hours as compared to non-clinical branches. Further non-clinical branches allow room for professionals to pursue additional research activities. In terms of job prospects, pathology and microbiology provide opportunities in hospital-based laboratories whereas the other branches are mainly limited to medical colleges.

If you wish to directly work with patients, then I would suggest working hard for another year and pursuing the branch of your choice. Choosing a branch is a critical choice as that decision will be with you for the rest of your career.
