Sir i am thinking of drop. I got 89 percentile in jee mains and being obc was allowed give jee advance but only scored 34 marks thus couldnt clear the cutoff Should i take a drop or join aktu colleges like jss, kiet, akgec etc. I can also try for jiit spot round since i failed to fill the form. My board cutoff is clear for jiit.

Ans: At an 89 percentile in JEE Main (approximate All-India rank 120 000–130 000) and OBC status, qualifying JEE Advanced cutoff proved elusive; repeat risk entails uncertain percentile gain and additional coaching expenses. Among AKTU-affiliates, JSS Noida’s CSE AI & ML and CSE programs closed between ranks 73 670 and 96 069 in 2024 through JEE Main counselling, KIET Ghaziabad’s CSE closed between ranks 90 459 and 99 644 in the final UP-JEE round, and AKGEC’s CSE cutoff ranged from 90 000 to 110 000 in 2025 projections, all within reach given your rank. JIIT Noida’s spot round admits candidates up to JEE Main rank 550 000 with ≥60 percent board marks, and you meet its 10+2 eligibility, enabling campus entry sans repeat delay. AKTU colleges offer accredited curricula, NBA/AICTE approvals, functional labs, industry tie-ups, and 65–85 percent three-year placement rates. However, brand value and peer competition at JSS, KIET, AKGEC trail JIIT’s national visibility and spot-round flexibility. Dropping entails a gamble on marginal percentile improvement without guaranteed NIT selection.

Recommendation: Embrace JIIT’s spot round opportunity given your board eligibility, clear cutoffs, and robust accreditation rather than delaying a year; concurrently secure AKTU seats at JSS, KIET or AKGEC as reliable alternatives to commence a solid engineering pathway. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!
