I want to send my son abroad for mbbs. Pl suggest how to go about.

Ans: Hello Vimal,

To begin with, thank you for contacting us. I am glad to know that you wish to send your son overseas for his MBBS studies. To answer your question first, I would like to tell you that your son should begin the process by looking into various countries and universities that offer accredited medical programs that are appropriate for international students. Next, he should take into account variables such as tuition fees, living expenses, medium of instruction, as well as accreditation. Following that, your son should examine the entry prerequisites, which frequently entail a high school diploma with science subjects, entrance tests, and English language proficiency tests. He should compile the required paperwork viz., academic transcripts, recommendation letters, and a current passport. Once he secures a place in the program, your son should then make an application for a student visa. I would suggest that you visit official university websites or get in touch with education consultants as they can make the process simpler and make sure you adhere to all deadlines and requirements.

My son is doing 2nd year mbbs in tamil nadu government medical college, he wants to do his pg in Australia or dubai suggest me what are the steps needed for that ? We are below middle class .
Ans: Hello Southa,

To begin with, thank you for contacting us. I am glad to hear that your son is currently pursuing the 2nd year of his MBBS degree and thereafter wishes to pursue his post-graduation (PG) in Australia or Dubai. As an answer to your query, I would like to tell you that the following procedures and considerations need to be taken into account in order for your son to pursue his postgraduate studies. Your son will first need to shortlist universities that provide the PG programs he’s interested in pursuing. I would recommend that he looks into the particular prerequisites as well as eligibility requirements for postgraduate courses in these preferred countries. This entails academic credentials, examinations viz., the PLAB or AMC exams in Australia, hands-on (job) experience, as well as appearing for language competency tests viz., OET or the IELTS. Fill out and submit applications, and be sure to include all the necessary documentation. Your son will also need to consider other aspects. He will need to take into account the prerequisites for health insurance for overseas students in the country he decides to study in. I would also suggest that your son investigates the lodging options and arranges for the same well in advance. In addition, considering you belong to the middle-class category, it’s essential that your son plans his finances. He should investigate the grants, scholarships, and other forms of monetary assistance offered to overseas students studying in Australia or Dubai. Moreover, to reduce the costs of living, your son should engage in part-time jobs available for students in these nations. He should comprehend the visa prerequisites associated with studying in these two countries and finish the visa application procedure. Remember that acquiring assistance from experts or academic advisors with expertise in foreign admissions can prove beneficial. They will be in a better position to offer guidance throughout the application procedure, provide assistance with all the required paperwork, as well as provide information on the courses that would best resonate with your son's future goals and monetary circumstances. Finally, to enhance your son’s application to pursue postgraduate courses abroad, I would recommend that you support him in achieving academic excellence and acquiring pertinent work experience.

My son studing mbbs (fina year) at kalkata medical college, want to study in abroad (USA) , How is it possible with financial assistance?
Ans: Hello Naba,

To begin with, thank you for contacting us. I am happy to hear that your son is currently pursuing the final year of MBBS at Kolkata Medical College and wishes to further study in the USA. To answer your question first, I would like to tell you that although a promising opportunity, pursuing medicine overseas, specifically in the United States involves substantial monetary constraints. Nevertheless, remember that your son could seek financial aid from numerous sources. I would recommend that he looks into the available grants or scholarships provided by private organizations or universities that aim to assist international medical students. Furthermore, although typically needing a cosigner who is a citizen or permanent resident of the US, there are student loans that are designed exclusively for foreign students attending US universities. Your son could explore these as well. Not just that, he could also engage in on-campus part-time jobs, this can be an excellent way to defray expenditures. To learn about the available possibilities and prerequisites for international students wishing to pursue medicine in the USA, I would suggest that your son conducts an extensive study and gets in touch with universities, offices offering financial assistance, as well as looks into the various scholarships offered.

Good day Sir. My son is in final year MBBS and shall graduate in 2025 and complete his compulsory internship in a April 2026 . He does not prefer Family Medicine or paediatric medicine and he has not finalized his passion for any particular stream yet. He wants to do his Masters from UK or USA. I understand USMLE is required for USA and PLAB is required for UK studies. My queries are : 1. What are expenses for completing USMLE and PLAB ? 2. What are possibilities of getting Residencies in USA / UK ? 3. Shall he require additional financial support after getting Residencies ? Pros and Cons of studies in both the countries ? 5. Any specific requirement for studies abroad ? 6. Finally, your suggestion as to where my son should do his Masters after completing his MBBS in India ? I shall appreciate your valuable guidance . Thanks and regards Sujit Roy
Ans: Hi Sujit,
Hello,

I am pleased to learn that your son will be completing his MBBS next year and is considering pursuing higher education. From your query, it seems that you are contemplating whether he should pursue his higher education abroad. There are several factors that need to be taken into consideration before making a decision. Some of these factors include:

1. He will need to clear the USMLE or PLAB exams, which will require dedicated effort. Until he completes these exams, he will require both financial and moral support.

2. The specialization he is interested in pursuing is a crucial factor to consider.

3. The choice of university will also play a significant role, as it may impact the availability of financial aid.

4. Additionally, it is important to weigh the pros and cons of studying in the USA or the UK and make an informed decision based on the specifics of each country.

Ultimately, the decision about his higher education should be made based on your financial circumstances and the support that can be provided without undue strain.

But i feel USA is better option when compare to UK.

"All the best to your son for his future endeavors."

I am looking forward to send my son for Masters abroad. He is presently pursuing BPharm in SRM KTR campus 3rd year, 7th semester. I would like to have a few suggestions about some universities, specially Europe their admission procedures, place to contact in India and expected costs. Thanking you
Ans: Hello,

To begin with, thank you for contacting us. I am happy to hear that your son is currently pursuing his 7th semester of BPharm at SRM KTR. I would like to let you know that he has excellent choices for obtaining a Master’s in Europe. You would be glad to know that outstanding programs in Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Sciences, and associated life sciences fields are offered in countries such as Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, the UK, and Ireland. Germany is home to leading universities such as LMU Munich and Heidelberg University that offer minimal to no tuition fees, although proficiency in Germany may be required by certain programs. The monthly cost of living is approximately €850. Outstanding English-taught programs are offered in the Netherlands and Sweden (e.g., Utrecht, Lund University), with tuition fees ranging from €10,000–€17,000 and similar costs of living. With tuition fees costing between €13,000 to £28,000 and higher living expenses, countries like the UK (UCL, King’s) and Ireland (Trinity Dublin) are more expensive. To secure admission, students typically need to have secured a good BPharm score, submit scores of the IELTS or TOEFL, as well as documents such as Statement of Purpose (SOPs) and letters of recommendation. Bear in mind that the application deadlines and prerequisites for each country is different, thus, I would suggest that you begin planning a year in advance.

I feel like a total failure even after completing MBBS from Madras Medical College, i am not getting any job of my choice, how do i get past this
Ans: Shocked to hear your concerns! It’s surprising that even after completing MBBS from a reputed institution like Madras Medical College, you’re facing difficulties in finding the right job. But remember, this is not failure. It’s just a transition phase where patience and flexibility are key. It’s natural to feel low when expectations don’t meet reality, yet this doesn’t diminish your achievement. Explore alternative opportunities such as internships, research roles, rural postings, or preparing for specialization through NEET-PG if you haven’t already. Many successful doctors began their journeys in challenging conditions, and their perseverance eventually brought recognition. Talking with seniors and mentors can provide valuable guidance, while sharing your feelings with friends can help you avoid loneliness and fatigue.

At the same time, don’t neglect your mental and emotional well-being. Connect with peers who’ve been through similar struggles. It will remind you that this phase is temporary. You can also build additional skills in communication, public health, research, or even health technology, which may open new career paths. Use this period to strengthen your CV with workshops, volunteering, or online certifications. Most importantly, be kind to yourself: completing MBBS is already a huge accomplishment, and setbacks don’t define your worth. Sometimes, stepping back to rest and reflect can bring the clarity and energy you need to move forward with confidence.

Good luck.
