Sarvesh, If an intern due to family issue had to go home for one day in his internship period is it worth it to cancel his internship by the institute in which he works?

Ans: It depends on whether and how you communicated this to your internship mentor/manager - if you informed them in a timely and professional manner then it should be OK. But if it was leave without notification, then some organizations may take a strong view of it and take a strict disciplinary action if there is no valid explanation of absence.

why one will have to pay tax at all if there is no income tax for those earning up to Rs 12 lakh per annum?

Ans: Technically there is no tax if taxable income upto 12 lakh (except special rate income), as you get rebate equivalent to tax charged. So you have to calculate tax as per slab rate first and reduce tax liability by way of rebate.
