My son has got CSE in Thapar..and ge will get Smart manufacturing at IIIT jabalpur and Mechanical at NIT delhi. What should we prefer and why Career
Ans: Yogesh Sir, Thapar Institute’s CSE program is recognized for its robust curriculum, strong industry connections, and nearly 100% placement rate for CSE, with an overall placement rate of about 90% and average packages between ?7–12 LPA, and top recruiters like Microsoft, Amazon, and Deloitte regularly visiting campus. The department emphasizes innovation, research, and hands-on learning, ensuring graduates are well-prepared for both core tech and interdisciplinary roles. IIITDM Jabalpur’s Smart Manufacturing is a modern, interdisciplinary course blending mechanical, electronics, and computer science, with a 60–72% placement rate and average packages around ?15–19 LPA, but most graduates secure IT/software roles rather than core manufacturing jobs, reflecting limited core opportunities in India so far. The curriculum is industry-aligned and future-focused, but company awareness and core job availability remain limited, though prospects are expected to grow as the sector matures. NIT Delhi Mechanical Engineering offers a solid academic foundation and improving reputation (NIRF rank 45 in 2024), but its placement rate for mechanical is around 40% and overall placements for core branches lag behind CSE, with most top offers in CSE/ECE. While NIT Delhi’s brand and central location are advantageous, the mechanical branch currently offers fewer immediate opportunities compared to CSE and IT-driven fields.

The recommendation is to prioritize Thapar CSE for its nearly 100% placement rate, strong industry reputation, and broad tech career opportunities, followed by IIITDM Jabalpur Smart Manufacturing for its interdisciplinary, future-oriented curriculum and good IT/software placements, and to consider NIT Delhi Mechanical only if there is a strong passion for core mechanical engineering, as its placement outcomes are less competitive. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!
