Dr Dipankar Dutta is an associate professor in the computer science and engineering department at the University Institute of Technology, the University of Burdwan, West Bengal.
He has 27 years of experience and his interests include AI, data science, machine learning, pattern recognition, deep learning and evolutionary computation.
Aside from his responsibilities at the college, he also delivers lectures and conducts webinars.

I got 90.23 percentile and 1.51 lakh rank in JEE mains. General category and home state UP. Kindly suggest good GFTI colleges i can get in CSE/IT/ECE.

Ans: Try with Gurukula Kangri Vishwavidyalaya, Haridwar (CSE/IT possible), Mizoram University, IICT Bhadohi, Assam University, and some niche GFTIs in CSAB rounds. Chances of getting into top GFTIs are almost nil.

Hello.. My son has secured 96.37 percentile in jee mains in General, domicile is karnataka. Pls refer nit, IIIT ? Is there any chances of IIT? Would like to know about IIIT Dharwad? Is there a chance of ECE at IIIT dharwad?

Ans: IIT is possible only if he qualifies for and performs very strongly in JEE Advanced. Chances with IIIT Dharwad are there.

Ans: Try with IIIT Una / IIIT Nagpur / IIIT Sri City / IIIT Kottayam / IIIT Kota / IIIT Surat. For top placement reputation, prioritize strong IIIT CSE over lower-core NIT branches if CS is your fixed goal.

my daughter may get around 236 in NEET exam what should she do, shall she reappear for exam of go for private college i can spent around 10 lakh pa for private college can she get government admission please reply based on historical results and college cutoff in Maharashtra

Ans: Given your 10 lakh/year budget, private MBBS may be possible only at select colleges/quotas. If your daughter can significantly improve, a repeat attempt is generally the stronger long-term option. Yet, given 236 in the 1st attempt, it is highly difficult to double to reach the benchmark of 550+ to get a seat in a government college. The final decision/choice will be yours.

Sir my sons score in karnataka board is 297/300. In kcet his score as per key answers is 157/180. Which course / college he may get

Ans: Yogish Sir, Your son’s score is excellent. KCET engineering rank uses 50% board PCM + 50% KCET PCM weightage. His board score is 99% and KCET score is about 87.2%, giving a very strong combined score of around 93.1%. His exact rank will depend on normalization and overall competition, but he may realistically fall in a strong rank band, possibly suitable for top Karnataka engineering colleges. The best targets are RVCE, BMSCE, MSRIT, PES University, Bangalore Institute of Technology, Dayananda Sagar, NIE Mysuru, BMSIT, RVITM and JSS Mysuru. For courses, first prefer CSE / AI-ML / Data Science / Information Science, then ECE, and then Electrical. In 2024 KCET cutoffs, RVCE CSE/ECE were extremely competitive, while other top colleges offered more flexible closing ranks. Sir Should I Join Sliet Longowal Instrumentation and engineering or Central University of Haryana Electrical Engineering

Ans: Jaivin, The preferred order can be 1) Central University of Jammu CSE–Cyber Security, 2) GKV Haridwar CSE, 3) SMVDU ECE, 4) SLIET Longowal Instrumentation, 5) Central University of Haryana Electrical. Since your options are not top-placement campuses, the branch matters strongly; therefore, CSE/Cybersecurity is safer than Instrumentation/Electrical for IT jobs. CU Jammu has a dedicated CSE Cyber Security programme and the official placement brochure lists B.Tech CSE/Cyber Security/ECE offerings, but placements are still developing. GKV CSE is preferable if fees are lower and location suits you. SMVDU ECE is decent, with official placement support, but ECE needs extra coding skills. SLIET is a government institute, but instrumentation has narrower opportunities; its department shows 2023–24 placement records. CU Haryana Electrical should be last unless fees are the main priority. All the BEST for Your Prosperous Future!
