My nephew scored 192 in TNEA 2025, his General Rank is 9460 and BC Rank is 5130. What is the possibility to get seat in Top 10 govt and govt aided colleges for ECE/CSE/IT. If he gets Self support Courses in psg or CIT coimbatore, can he prefers this over Chennai institute of technology

Ans: HI,
CSE & ECE: It's a bit difficult in top government and private colleges, but possibilities are there at good government/autonomous institutions.
In the case of IT, opportunities are there with some decent colleges.
With self-support, mid-tier colleges are possible for CSE and ECE.
Kindly note: CIT (Chennai) is possible through MQ. Do participate in the counseling process.

Respected sir, my TNEA cut off is 192.5.can i get a seat in top colleges like psg,anna university.which course has a good scope for next 10 years?can I get a CSE or EEE or ECE courses in top colleges like psg?

However, ECE and EEE at PSG Tech (ECE cutoff: ~183–190; EEE: ~185) and Anna University regional campuses (ECE cutoff: ~183–190) are accessible, given their lower cutoff thresholds. For instance, PSG Tech’s ECE closed at 1,607 rank (General AI) in 2024, aligning with ~190 marks, while Anna University Coimbatore’s ECE admitted students with ~183 marks (19,010 rank).

Future Scope:

Also, the home state for JoSAA counseling depends primarily on the Class 12 state of eligibility, not the current residence. For example, if Class 12 was completed in Gujarat, the Gujarat HS quota applies, not Delhi. A top NIT/IIIT CSE/ECE is unlikely. Also, home state in JoSAA depends mainly on Class 12 state of eligibility, not where she is staying; if Class 12 is from Gujarat, use the Gujarat HS quota, not Delhi. JoSAA publishes institute-wise opening/closing ranks for verification.

Probable JoSAA/CSAB options: SVNIT Surat lower branches only as a long shot in CSAB, not CSE/ECE; try GFTIs like Assam University, Gurukula Kangri, Mizoram University, SMVDU, and other lower-demand branches. Answering your question, please note, for placement security, VIT Vellore ECE is the best choice, offering a strong balance of brand reputation, alumni network, recruiters, and access to tech placements, with VIT reporting top recruiters and a high CTC of ?1 crore across all campuses. VIT Vellore EEE is a good option only if she is committed to developing strong coding and electronics skills. Ans: Based on your score, NIT Trichy CSE/ECE and IIITDM Kancheepuram CSE/ECE are not realistic, as JoSAA OBC ranks close much earlier. Try CSAB special rounds for lower branches in NITs/GFTIs, but for CSE/ECE, focus on Tamil Nadu and nearby private/state options: SASTRA, SRM KTR, VIT Chennai/AP (if eligible), SSN, Amrita, Karunya, Rajalakshmi, Saveetha, Sathyabhama, Hindustan, KCG, Panimalar, Velammal, Sri Krishna Coimbatore. Also register for TNEA, because Tamil Nadu counselling is through the official TNEA portal. Other options you can try are KL University, GITAM, PES/COMEDK colleges, Manipal Jaipur, and good Andhra/Telangana private colleges. For Uttarakhand government engineering, try state counselling by Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University, where B.Tech admission is JEE Main-based. Realistic branches may be civil, mechanical, electrical, production/industrial, or agriculture/biotech-type branches in later/spot rounds, not CSE/ECE. Have the following backup options: THDC-IHET Tehri, GBPIET Pauri, BTKIT Dwarahat, plus affordable private colleges through state counselling. Also keep UPES/Graphic Era/DIT only if budget permits.
