Career

Hello Sir, I was looking for visual arts/animation/BFA in applied arts colleges! Though I got MIT wpu Pune but because of fees I'm not going there. + I also gave exam for Bharati Vidyapeeth deemed University Pune and got into visual arts, is it good? And if not then which college or university will be good?

Ans: Devyani, Pursuing a BSc in Physics from top IITs or NITs is a strong academic choice, offering rigorous training in fundamental and applied sciences, access to advanced labs, and opportunities for research internships. Admission to IITs (such as Kanpur and Kharagpur) requires clearing JEE Advanced with cutoffs generally below 5,500 for general category, while NITs like Rourkela and Agartala admit through JEE Main, with closing ranks for integrated MSc Physics between 35,000 and 90,000. Placement rates for BSc Physics at IITs can be high, with median salaries reported at ?15–19 LPA, and recruiters including ISRO, DRDO, and consulting firms, but most graduates either pursue higher studies (MSc, MS, PhD) or transition into research, analytics, teaching, or government roles. Direct high-value placements after BSc are less common compared to engineering, but dual degree and minor options (such as a second major in computing or management) at IITs expand career scope. Overall, this path is ideal for those passionate about physics, research, or interdisciplinary science, and is best complemented by a mindset focused on continuous learning and readiness for competitive postgraduate exams. If your primary goal is high placement immediately after graduation, engineering or computer science may offer more direct industry access, but for scientific careers and research, a BSc in Physics from a top IIT or NIT is an excellent foundation. All the BEST for the Admission & a Prosperous Future!

I am seeking guidance for my nephew, who is currently studying in the 10th standard (Navi Mumbai) and has a keen interest in pursuing a career in digital arts. He is passionate about this field and wishes to continue his education in digital arts after completing his 10th standard. However, we are not well-informed about the colleges or universities that offer specialized courses in digital arts in Mumbai and Pune.
Ans: Hello
It's wonderful to hear about your nephew's interest in digital arts, and it's great that you’re helping him explore educational options in this creative field. You can join him either at a private institute or at a reputed govt college. It is recommended that you join a Govt College and then simultaneously to any private academy that provides digital arts courses, Here are some options you can explore:
(1) Diploma or Certificate Courses (After 10th Standard): Arena Animation, MAAC (Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics), FX School, Mumbai
(2) 11th and 12th Standard (Arts Stream with Digital Arts):
(3) Undergraduate Programs in Digital Arts: Pune Based: MIT Institute of Design, Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) | Mumbai Based:- Whistling Woods International, Sir J. J. Institute of Applied Art and National Institute of Design (NID), Gandhinagar
(4) Specialized Institutes with Bachelor’s Programs:- D. Y. Patil International University, Pune, Pearl Academy, Mumbai
(5) Online Courses & Certifications (Complementary Learning)
(6) Entrance Exams for Design Courses: NID DAT (Design Aptitude Test) – For National Institute of Design.
UCEED (Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design) – Conducted by IITs, it’s accepted by some design institutes.
MITID DAT and Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) – For MIT Pune and Symbiosis.

If satisfied, please like and follow me.
If dissatisfied with the reply, please ask again without hesitation.
Thanks.

Any good animation/BFA applied arts/ Visual arts suggestion and is VIT vellore or bharati vidyapeeth which is better?
Ans: It's great that you're exploring creative fields like animation, BFA, applied arts, or visual arts. These are growing areas with good career options in design, films, gaming, advertising, and digital media.
For Animation / Design / Visual Arts:
1. MIT Institute of Design (MITID), Pune – Excellent for animation, communication design, and visual arts.
2. Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design & Technology (Bangalore) – Very creative space, strong in animation and visual communication.
3. NID (National Institute of Design) – Very competitive but top-tier for all design/visual arts-related fields.
4. Whistling Woods International (Mumbai) – Good for animation, filmmaking, VFX, and media arts.
5. Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID), Pune – Strong reputation for design and animation.

For BFA / Applied Arts:
1. Sir J.J. School of Art (Mumbai) – Best for BFA/applied arts.
2. MSU Baroda – Faculty of Fine Arts – Strong traditional and applied arts programs.
3. College of Art, Delhi University – Government college with good faculty and exposure.
4. Chandigarh University (for BFA & Animation) – Upcoming and offers modern curriculum.
Between VIT and Bharati Vidyapeeth
• VIT Vellore is known more for engineering and tech courses. Their design/animation programs are still relatively new and evolving.
• Bharati Vidyapeeth (Pune) has a more established BFA and applied arts setup through its College of Fine Arts. The exposure here for visual arts is better, especially if she’s focused on fine arts, applied arts, or creative design.

Sir, my son is getting Mechanical and aerospace engineering in PEC, IT in UIET Chandigarh and CSE in CCET Chandigarh. Please suggest which would be the better option. He has Chandigarh state quota ( General Category)
Ans: Punjab Engineering College (Deemed-to-be University), Chandigarh offers a four-year B.Tech in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering on its verdant 120-acre campus, featuring advanced workshops, aerodynamics and solid-mechanics labs, and a 1:8 faculty-student ratio of predominantly PhD holders. Placement rates for Mechanical Engineering have been 74%, 76% and 47% over the last three years, while Aerospace hovered around 47%, 50% and 42%. University Institute of Engineering & Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh provides a four-year B.E. in Information Technology with CBCS-based curriculum, specialized IT labs and NAAC A+ accreditation, recording placement rates of 80%, 78.4% and 66.3%. Chandigarh College of Engineering & Technology, Sector 26, Chandigarh offers a four-year B.E. in Computer Science & Engineering with NBA accreditation, modern computing facilities and strong industry ties, achieving CSE placement rates of 78.9%, 69% and 62% over recent years.

Recommendation: Prioritize UIET Chandigarh IT for its consistently strong placement momentum, robust infrastructure and state-quota advantage, followed by CCET Chandigarh CSE for its accredited curriculum and urban campus, and consider PEC Chandigarh Mechanical/Aerospace as a specialized core-engineering backup with solid research orientation.
