NEET, Medical, Pharmacy Careers - Answered on Jun 22, 2026

Career
My daughter is a 2028 neet aspirant who is confused in choosing the extra subject along with PCB for class 11. She has been studying maths since May and has completed 2 chapters already. But now she is thinking to change her subject because of time management issues. Please tell if she should choose Bitechnology, Computer Science or continue with maths, taking board/school exams as well as NEET preperation into consideration. Please help
Ans: Hi,
GREETINGS FROM THE REDIFFGURUS.
That's a good question.

Since she is a NEET aspirant, there's no need to worry about the fourth subject, whether it's Mathematics, Biotechnology, or Computer Science. My suggestion is to stick with Mathematics. Studying Math will help her tackle the physics portion of the NEET exam more easily, especially since many students often struggle with the calculations in that section.

So, don’t worry; the choice you’ve made is the best one. There is NO benefit to choosing Computer Science at this time, and while a few questions may appear in NEET related to Biotechnology, those will mostly be covered in Biology. So, please proceed with Mathematics. I hope you understand my point.

From now on, please don’t change her mind or let her get distracted.

One suggestion I have is that she should start preparing for NEET immediately. How? She should download the NEET syllabus from the official website and go through it. Encourage her to segregate the chapters based on Class 11 and Class 12. For any topics in the Class 11 syllabus, she should review them and clarify any doubts in her regular classes before completing that syllabus. The same approach should be applied for Class 12 as well.

Additionally, she should try some free mock tests available online. Encourage her to practice yoga and meditation, as this will help her manage stress. With a focused approach, she can score well and secure a seat in top medical colleges like AIIMS or JIPMER.
