Hi, I heard that MBBS from India will be credited in the US? Is that right and can you please explain how this will change the process of coming to US after completing MBBS in India? Will the students still have to give USMLE, do residency or no?

As an answer to your query, I would like to let you know that if a person holding an Indian MBBS degree wishes to study Doctor of Medicine (MD) in the USA, he/she will generally require to undergo a procedure known as "medical residency." As per the press release dated 20 Sept 2023 of the Indian Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India’s National Medical Commission has received ‘recognition’ status from the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) for 10 years. This means that all 706 of India’s existing medical colleges are now WFME-accredited, enabling graduates to practice medicine in several foreign countries, including the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
