My son got Mtech in Advance Computing in MANIT Bhopal in general round of CCMT. He is expecting Mtech - CSE or AIDS in NIT Durgapur in special rounds.Parallely he is expecting Mtech CSE or AI or Data Science in DTU Delhi.Which one shall we prefer

However, chances exist for newer/lesser NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs in lower-demand branches (civil, metallurgy, chemical, mining) under female supernumerary quotas, where closing ranks reach 80k+ in some institutes. Hello sir, my jee mains crl rank is 40,117. I'm a male general candidate (home state maharashtra). Is it possible for me to secure IIIT Kottayam CSE in JoSAA since last year it's closing rank for CSE core was 40,2xx.

Ans: Jaya, at CRL 40,117, IIIT Kottayam CSE is possible but very borderline. In JoSAA 2025 Round 6, IIIT Kottayam CSE Open Gender-Neutral closed at 40,217, only about 100 ranks after your rank; JoSAA confirms open ranks are CRL. But in 2024, CSE was much tougher, around 35,996, so don’t treat it as safe. Still you must try and fill out IIIT Kottayam CSE above your backups. Other strong backups can be IIIT Kottayam Cyber Security, ECE, newer IIIT CSE/ECE branches, and CSAB Special Round, where IIIT Kottayam CSE went much further in 2025.
