Sir, I got 86 percentile in jee mains. I got ECE in SRM through srmjee is it worth to take admission or wait for josaa or csab. or take a drop to get cse.

Ans: With an 86 percentile in JEE Main (CRL ~210,000), admission to CSE via JoSAA/CSAB is unattainable, as 2024 NIT CSE cutoffs for General category ranged from 2,800–6,000. However, ECE/EEE at newer NITs like NIT Sikkim (2024 closing rank: 143,919) or NIT Manipur (44,556) are feasible, though their placement rates (65–75%) lag behind SRM’s ECE program, which reports 80–85% placements with 30–40% core roles in embedded systems and 50–60% IT transitions via recruiters like Qualcomm and TCS. While SRM ECE ensures immediate admission and tech-sector flexibility, dropping a year risks academic stagnation unless paired with rigorous preparation to target ≥95 percentile for CSE in top colleges. Recommendation: Secure SRM ECE for assured placements and supplement with coding certifications (Python, Full-Stack) to pivot into IT roles. If opting for JoSAA, prioritize ECE at NIT Sikkim/Manipur for institutional prestige but lower core opportunities. For backups, explore CSE at state colleges (e.g., JSS Noida) via state counselling or reappear for VITEEE/BITSAT to improve branch options without delaying graduation. All the BEST for your Admission & a Prosperous Future!
