Sir I am getting electronics in a private college (AOT in Hooghly) in 1st round of counseling in wbjee.... Plus I'm getting bsc physics hons in Calcutta University.... I really want to pursue a career in astrophysics or cosmology... Which one should i do? Btech from private college or bsc from government University?

Hello sir, I am Shruti Gupta Sir,please guide me. Sir I am interested in physics and i didn't score good rank in jee and neither i am able to do engineering from private college Sir i am confused whether to choose bsc physics or bsc data science. I didn't learn coding in my class 11 and 12.Data science because it has good scope and offers good salary at a very young age. Sir please help me out it's the matter of my life.

Ans: Hi Shruti. Go with B.Sc. Physics. After that complete PG. Join any institution. Along with a job, do Phd.
If you are confused with Data Science, then do not go with it.

Hi , I am Aratrika, currently living in Kolkata. I passed class 12th in this year.Right now,I have different options like-1) Btech in ECE from Heritage Engineering College , Kolkata 2)B.Sc in Physics from Jadavapur University 3)Bs-Ms course in IISER. Which should I opt for if I have an inclination towards subjects like astrophysics and also want to have a career in these fields in places like ISRO,ESA , NASA...etc....

Ans: Congrats Aratrika for having made to admission lists of many good Colleges. I would like you to explore BS-MS 5 year program at IISER and see if their curriculum aligns well with jobs at ISRO, NASA etc. Also explore if you can exit after your BS program. And take a decision yourself.

Ans: I would address your question in 3 parts. 1. Please pick a course for a career out of astrophysics and cosmology. 2. Run a rigourous test in terms of what it takes to puruse that career, check if you are fascinated by the nomenclature, do you have the aptitude and are willing to put in the rigour and determination to slog it and not turn back midway. 3. Having done that look for the best courses BSc or BTech and institutions offering programs at the level you pick (BSc or BTech), and order them in your personal preference of location, government, non government. Sir my daughter scored 73.8 in 10+2 but maths percentile is very low @ 46. She wish to appear in BITSAT. Can she be eligible if she improves her score in improvement exam to be held in July by CBSE?

Ans: Eligibility for BITS Pilani Admission:
Minimum Requirement: Candidates should have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (for engineering courses) and secured at least 75% aggregate marks in these three subjects or be among the top 20 percentile in their respective board exams.

BITS also requires minimum 60% marks in each of these subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics).
Yes! If she improves her aggregate in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics to 75% or above, she will meet the minimum eligibility criteria for BITSAT.
But my suggestion is to avoid engineering, because almost all streams in engineering require B.Sc. level math.
