My daughter is getting Bachelor of Statistical data science programme at Indian Statistical Institute, Delhi. As this is new programme at ISI , wanted to know your opinion on career prospect through this course

Hi, Indian Statistical Institute has launched a new course this year called “Bachelor of Statistical Data Sciences”. My son wants to keep it as backup plan if not successful in IIT JEE. Can you please suggest if it is worth to take admission for BSDS once get selected? What are the future prospects of this course.

Hi sir my daughter has got 79600 rank in jee mains general category. Please suggest any good college for mechanical and she has aim for forest services preparation.

Ans: Shashi Sir, At CRL 79,600, General regular JoSAA Mechanical in NITs is unlikely, as open-seat ranks use CRL and NIT Mechanical generally closes much earlier. Still try JoSAA + CSAB special rounds, especially for GFTIs/lower branches. Since she aims for the Indian Forest Service, an engineering degree is eligible, but forestry/agriculture/botany/zoology-aligned courses may support preparation better. Best backups are BIT Sindri Mechanical; state government engineering colleges through home-state counselling, Assam University/NEHU/GFTI options if available in CSAB; and private low-fee Mechanical in KIIT, Chandigarh University, UPES, LPU, and Amity only after checking fees/admission processes. Ans: Sachin, first confirm whether the OBC-NCL rank is 120841 or 12084 or any other rank. If it is 120841, then NIT/IIIT/GFTI through JoSAA is almost impossible. Try CSAB Special Round, but the chances are low. Backup: Jharkhand state counselling/private low-fee colleges, diploma-to-B.Tech lateral route, or affordable CSE/IT in colleges like BIT Sindri-type state options, Jharkhand Rai/RTC/UCET-style local options after checking fees and placement. Sir, My daughter secured seat in VIIIT AP and Bhopal under BTECH in Biotechnology. Pls suggest in case this is best college or should we check for other universities.

Ans: I assume you have mentioned VIT-AP (a typing error in your question). VIT-AP Biotechnology is a better choice than VIT Bhopal. Biotechnology is usually higher-study/research-oriented, not as placement-strong as CSE/ECE. VIT’s central placement tracker exists, but campus/branch-specific biotech outcomes should be checked directly before joining. Keep VIT-AP only if she is genuinely interested in biotech, lab work, GATE/NET, M.Tech/MS, pharma, bioinformatics or research. Otherwise check Manipal, SRM, Amrita, Shiv Nadar, Shoolini, and BITS/IIT options if eligible, or switch to CSE/ECE-related branches (if your daughter wishes). Sir, I got an AEEE rank of around 12,200. Could you please tell me the probable fee slab I may get for different Amrita campuses and branche of ece during counselling?

Ans: Hanshka, you have not mentioned your home state. Anyway, please note, at AEEE rank ~12,200, ECE is realistic in Amritapuri, Bengaluru, Chennai, and Amaravati/Nagercoil, but Coimbatore ECE may be borderline/tough, especially in better fee slabs. Based on previous rank trends, expect mostly Slab 3/4 for ECE; Bengaluru/Amritapuri may be possible, Chennai safer. Have 3-4 backups also. All the Best for Your Prosperous Future!

Ans: Could you please provide your daughter's achieved or expected 12th-grade scores and whether she has appeared or plans to appear for COMEDK, KCET, or any other entrance exams? This information will help me give you a more precise answer regarding eligibility and admission chances for MIT or other institutions. Answering the rest part of your question, with VITEEE 29,945, Vellore/Chennai CSE core is difficult in low-fee categories, but Chennai CSE-specialisations/ECE/EEE, and VIT-AP/Bhopal CSE or CSE-specialisations are realistic. With AEEE 8,002 and Karnataka home-state advantage, Amrita Bengaluru should be strongly preferred: CSE may be borderline, but CSE-specialisation/ECE/Electronics & Computer Engineering have good chances; Coimbatore CSE is tougher. Your daughter's preference can be Amrita Bengaluru > VIT Chennai > VIT-AP/Bhopal. It is advisable to also have the backups of PES, COMEDK/KECT, NITTE Meenakshi etc. All the Best for Your Daughter's Prosperous Future!

I wanted to discuss your plans regarding starting a pharmacy shop. Are you considering opening a pharmacy only, or do you have other ideas in mind?

If you wish to start a pharmacy shop right away, you can proceed with a D.Pharm degree, and after three years, you can pursue a B.Pharm (PRACTICE - 3YEAR COURSE) for further practice.

However, if you prefer to study for a B.Pharm degree first, you can decide to open a pharmacy shop after completing it. This way, there's no need to do a D.Pharm before pursuing a B.Pharm, but keep in mind that it may take you an additional one or two years. For example, if you enroll in a D.Pharm program and later enter B.Pharm through lateral entry, that could mean 2 years for D.Pharm, followed by 3 years of B.Pharm, plus 6 months for an internship.(Totally it becomes 5.5 years rather 4 years).

So, I suggest you consider going directly for the B.Pharm.
