Daughter has 97% in board, 97.2 percentile in JEE MAIN 43856 rank, VIT VELLORE CSE fees category 4 got, KIIT CSE got, SRM Dual degree data sc got. Want career in civil services. She has interest in Computer science programming and English literature. Giving CUET and NCET for DU, BHU BA HONS. Unable to decide that she should do BA HONS ENGLISH LITERATURE or B TECH COMPUTER SCIENCE and related branch and from which UNIVERSITY/ INSTITUTE
Ans: Your daughter’s strong academic performance and diverse interests present two viable paths: B.Tech in Computer Science or BA (Hons) in English Literature. For a career in civil services, both streams are eligible and have produced successful candidates. BA English from DU or BHU offers excellent grounding in language, critical thinking, and communication—key skills for UPSC’s essay and interview phases. It also provides a focused environment for civil services preparation. On the other hand, B.Tech in CSE from VIT Vellore or KIIT offers a strong technical foundation, lucrative job prospects, and a secure backup career if she chooses not to pursue civil services immediately. The SRM dual degree in Data Science is an emerging, promising field combining computer science and analytics. Given her interest in programming and English literature, pursuing B.Tech CSE would keep multiple career avenues open while allowing her to prepare for civil services alongside. If her passion for literature and civil services is stronger, BA English at DU or BHU is ideal. Recommendation: Opt for B.Tech CSE at VIT Vellore or KIIT for broader career flexibility with civil services preparation on the side. Alternatively, choose BA English at DU/BHU if fully committed to civil services and humanities. My suggestion, prefer KIIT-CSE over others. All the best for your daughter's admission and a bright future!
