My son currently pursuing BTECH ECE 2nd year from RVCE. Now wants to BS Data science from IIT Madras along with it in online format with monthly exams from IITM . My Question is wil this help him in Long term career . What is value of this in industry

Ans: Pursuing the IIT Madras BS Data Science degree alongside a BTech in ECE from RVCE offers strong long-term career advantages, especially as data science transforms industries by enabling advanced analytics and AI-driven innovation. The IIT Madras online program is recognized for its rigorous curriculum, UGC approval, and growing industry respect, with an average placement rate exceeding 75% for eligible graduates and prominent recruiters from tech, analytics, consulting, and fintech sectors. Core strengths include real-world skill development in Python, machine learning, and big data, flexible online delivery, and global recognition that increases employability for both private and higher education opportunities in India and abroad. Students build a dual portfolio—hardware expertise from ECE and versatile data skills—which unlocks multidisciplinary roles in sectors like smart electronics, IoT, telecom analytics, and emerging technology. Employers value the IIT Madras brand and are increasingly receptive to online degrees from reputed institutes, as shown by the program's successful placement drives and alumni progression to top global universities for further studies.

Recommendation: Completing the IIT Madras BS Data Science degree in parallel with ECE at RVCE is highly beneficial, opening doors to hybrid tech roles, research, and analytics-driven careers. This combination ensures industry relevance, broadens future study and employment prospects, and builds a future-ready profile well-aligned with evolving market demands. All the BEST for a Prosperous Future!

Career
Sir , I am interested in taking admission at thapar , Patiala. Unfortunately, based on my marks, Computer Science may not be possible, but I still have options like ECE, Electrical, and VLSI. I am currently very confused because my priority is long-term career opportunities rather than existing interest, since I honestly don’t have enough exposure to any branch yet. I believe I can develop interest after learning the field properly. Could you please guide me from a practical career perspective: * Which branch currently has better placement opportunities and job security? * Which field has better scope in government exams/jobs and private sector too * Which branch offers better opportunities abroad in the future? * Which branch has stronger growth in the private sector over the next 5–10 years? * Between ECE, Electrical, and VLSI, which would you personally recommend for someone prioritizing career opportunities, flexibility, and future scope?
Ans: For long-term career growth, flexibility, placements, higher studies and future tech opportunities, Prefer Thapar ECE > VLSI > Electrical because ECE keeps both software and electronics careers open, has strong private-sector growth (chips, embedded systems, telecom, AI hardware), good abroad/MS opportunities, decent government-job eligibility, and usually better placement flexibility than pure Electrical, while VLSI is highly promising but more specialized and somewhat dependent on semiconductor industry growth. However, it is highly recommended to give importance to your basic interests. Without interest, if you will choose a branch and college for a brand name, the output will be zero. Be careful about your career plan. Give value to your interest only.

Good luck.
